Hello, i came here because i could need some help with my Toughbook CF-52 MK2 (CF-52GDN30AG).
First of all, i know it was stupid, but i tried to change something in the BIOS ROM and now i have a problem.
The system is still working, but there is something wrong.
Every time i start the laptop, i see the blue panasonic screen like normal, but the next step is just a black screen with the line "Press <F2> to enter setup".
It does not boot anything. But if i press F2 (or DEL) i get into the BIOS and there i can go to "Boot Override" and select the Harddrive and then it will boot that.
But i have to do this every single time.
Of course i made a backup of the original BIOS file. I reflashed the original file, but the error is still there.
I used AFUWIN64 from the APTIO Tools. (DOS tools gave me write protect errors)
It is an AMI APTIO Bios V2.50L18 M18
Unfortunatelly there is no official BIOS update for this machine.
Maybe someone could send me the BIOS file from another CF-52GDN30AG machine ?
Or someone knows how to fix my problem ?
Please help me.

go into bios ... change the settings you need to ...
did you press "save and continue" ?
or words like that ?
it may be the "luck of the draw" and your back up battery is too flat to maintain the bios . -

thanks for the replies.
I already changed all bios settings without success. and of course i saved them
loading the defaults was the first thing to do.
tried anything with the boot order. i have not tried the bios battery yet, because i would have to disassemble half the laptop.
i disabled network, usb and optical drive, so there is only harddrive left to boot from, but it still does not boot on its own.
it does not automatically boot from cd, usb or network either (if enabled).
i always have to enter the bios and select boot override.
i consider myself to not be a noob. i successfully modded several bios files before, but i never had a problem like this.
i suspect that i have either corrupted the boot block or the bios itself, and that this message is some kind of fail safe, like checksum error or signature.
the strange thing is that it does not work with the original backup anymore. -
What is the size of your BIOS backup file?
