Not a problem, Please post your entire model number for reference purposes, i.e. CF-29xxxxxxx.
You will find this on the bottom of your Toughbook (usually), or more reliably during a boot when you see the Panasonic logo and blue screen, hit the F-2 button and go into bios, read your model there and report back. FYI, there is a link here full of Linux goodies: ~Toughbook Talk~ Toughbook Discussion • View forum - The LINUX forum!!!
    Best regards, Cleve

I can't help you with mint 17 but if you look below you will see that you don't have a touchscreen.

Yes this is one of the better ones only because the max memory is 2.25GB. Please check this thread out http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/451104-cf-29-everyone-told-me-not-do.html . You can also add the touch screen but you need to read the above thread.

    Code:
    $xset m 8 1
#works for one session only for the touch pad.
    You have nano editor?
Then from terminal: (all updates on board?)
    Code:
    sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf
    In nano editor
    # no quotes.
Ctrl X to save Y and enter.

Check the post re: SOLYDX in the link uncndl1 posted for the touchscreen. I wrote it in the last 24 hours. Replace mousepad editor with nano or leafpad. :hi2:

It's a funny name and not related to editing the pad. And then again it may be for SOLYDX. First time I used it was yesterday so it must be Solydx.

The first one >>>you do from terminal. So super key type ter and a terminal should show up in the menu. Super key is between Fn and Alt key left of the space bar. (by first one I mean xset m 8 1.)
The rest of the commands mostly are terminal work too but only done once.
There are several editors....Leafpad, Mousepad, Nano and gedit for instance. Why don't you try nano....it looks scary but the whole touchscreen setup can be done from one terminal. I used to have two terminals and a editor open at once.

    I'll edit above.

    Jeff

edit done above. So [menu] type editor and see what you do have. :)

Easy and simple are not words I use. But just a short learning cycle and you are good to go. Dinner time on the left coast of North America. :

Here is something I wrote for your edification and amusement. (yeah, I always talk like this)
    Basics:
Caps and spaces are crucial. (more important than just necessary) Like intel and Intel.
    # is used for comments. Words after # are ignored by terminal.
Cut and paste all trusted material to maintain capitals, spacing etc.
/ forward slash is used rather then backslash \ from dos.
$sudo means I am the supervisor so do what I say.
    | is a shifted backslash. As in $dmesg | grep Intel. (get report (grep) means show me what you did with anything containing Intel)
ls is list as in lshw #list hardware.
A day or two and you are rolling. Contact me @ toughbooktalk if I disappear.

    Thanks,

    Jeff...when I am writing...read every line...please...

    Law of supply and demand.
The selling price depends on how bad the buyer wants it.

I go to Ebay completed auctions and see what they are selling for...This gives me a rough idea of the value.
