Hi forum, I need to know how I can go about burning a bootable image of my recovery disc to USB that also works. My DVD RAM is not being recognized by my cf-19 so I have to do it the hard way it seems.
Anyone done something similar? Please share your lights.
TYIA.

If you’re talking about a Panasonic DVD image the answer is no, you won’t be able to do that with usb stick.
If you’re system is working fine you can use Acronis True Image to clone your system.
Did you try a different usb DVD external player to install the image?
Sent from my CF-M34 -
Acronis WILL create a bootable image on a usb stick.
No one has been able to figure out how to convert a Panasonic DVD to usb stick yet.
It is just something in a text based script that forces a search for a DVD. I had at one time located the file and script but, I am not skilled enough to know what to modify correctly.
I attempted to a couple times and failed.
Boot the unit and get into BIOS. The last page of BIOS might have a boot the recovery partition option.
Otherwise create a generic Windows usb stick and use it for starters.
Panasonic is very picky about what DVD drives they will boot from. Try a couple different drives if you have them.Last edited: Jan 30, 2020UNCNDL1 and toughasnails like this. -

Thank you both for your replies.
I am experimenting with my mk1 right now and I decided to restore it using mk2 images. The restore was successful but the mk1 doesn't boot past the win xp loading screen, giving me a BSOD.
Apart from the obviously response of it being possibly related to the differing toughbook MK's, what other possibilities could there be? Anyone attempted such a restore before?
Thanks. -
I have swapped installed harddrives from a 19 Mk1 to mk2 no problems. Try to see if it will boot in safe mode.

I agree.
Try safe mode and then check the drivers. -
Yes, as above. Left and Right Coast people (and all those inbetween) have installed the original DVD onto another MK unit, and then transferred the hard drive into the other unit you're trying to get up and running.
Sounds like you have a MK1 CF-19, with a MK2 original Panasonic restore dvd.
Why not download and run a linux distribution such as MX-Linux:
https://mxlinux.org/
or Mint:
https://linuxmint.com/
which will boot easily from a usb?? -
Yep, did it last night taking the ssd from a CF-19Mk5 and booting a CF-74J
Need to learn how to burn a bootable image of my recovery disc to USB
