Ok, just bought a CF-28 in fair condition at a reasonably good price. However, the 10/100 network card is a Xircom unit in the double PCM slot. The CF-28 has a modem card in the mini pci slot below (or should that be above?) the hard disk, it's in the slot nearest the battery. The end plate on the HDD side has ONLY the RJ11 socket for the modem.
    Can anyone clarify if:
1.) the internal network card goes in the slot currently occupied by the modem, and does the RJ45 plug normally appear where the RJ11 is at the moment?
2.) If I am correct, could the wireless card go in the other slot (the one furthest from the battery)
3.) Again, if I am correct, does anyone have a 'stock' network card AND the socket mounting plate I could buy? :D
I am perfectly competent at working on laptops, (messed with Compaq's and IBM thinkpads for years!) I'm just new to toughbooks!

The stock network plates, either with the modem receptacle or not, are hard to come by. I tried everyone on this forum not long ago and had to go to Ebay to find one (pricey!) You may want to get a parts CF-28 as they are only a few dollars more than what many want for just the parts to add the LAN plate. BTW, while you are changing things around, go with an aftermarket wifi card (better reception) rather than the stock Intel type (especially if it is a 2100).
