    Hello Everyone!

I am the proud owner of 2 "new to me" Cf-29N's and I need some help. I have been lurking and have read pretty much all of the cf-29 forum and a lot of cf-18 stuff.

I am working on my 1st of 2 CF-29's and have successfully installed a WD scopio 750gb 7200rpm SATA drive with Windows 7 ultimate, and have successfully upgraded the ram to 2.25 GB. This unit is a CF-29NDLGFBM with ATT 3gWLAN(based on model number this is not original). Have the Billionton PCMCIA Class 1 Bluetooth installed and am using an 8gb Class 10 SDHC card for readyboost.

    All is well EXCEPT:

    1. I can't seem to get the video drivers just right. I have the latest Intel 915/910 drivers installed (win2k_xp142550) but I have the little yellow triangle showing and they are not fully functional.... So I have no SLEEP/HIBERNATE, and Hulu playback is crappy.

    2. Is there anything that can be done to improve the Trackpad speed? It is not as responsive as I would like.

I have read all of the pertinent threads I could find and the video driver thing has me stumped.

My next mod is a USB GPS in the palmrest (with copper backplane and WWAN switched power)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I see the TOUGHBOOK is showing that he has a MK5 on Win7 running perfectly, so I just need a push in the right direction.

    Thanks!

Oh and I am SUPER impressed with the people on this forum... some real pros!

It is, in fact, OEM-installed at&t Novatel HSDPA WWAN:

    CF-29NDLGFBM
    Original Configuration:
Intel Pentium M 778 1.6GHz LV (Centrino), 13.3" NON Touch XGA Screen, 256MB RAM, 60GB HDD, Intel 802.11 a+b+g WLAN, Windows XP Pro SP2, HSDPA WWAN, Dual Pass Through, Emissive Backlit Keyboard, TPM1.2, No Optical Drive
    Status: DISCONTINUED
    MSRP: $4,540

First off, "RTFM": [ Install Instructions ]. ;)

Next: look to see which CF-29 Mk5 files you need and do not have.

Caveat: These are Windows XP Pro files and you have stated you are trying to use an Intel video driver file intended for:

"Operating Systems:Windows 2000*, Windows XP Home Edition*, Windows XP Media Center Edition*, Windows XP Professional*"

So which is it: Win XP Pro or `Windows Seventh Try' < ;)>?

BTW: Here's what Intel has to say about the 915 and Win 7:

Windows 7* drivers are not available for the following older Intel® graphics controllers:

    •Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family

    •Intel® 82915G/82910GL Express Chipset Family

    •Intel® 82865G Graphics Controller

    •Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller

    •Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller

    •Intel® 82830M Graphics Controller

    •Intel® 82815 Graphics Controller

    •Intel® 82810 Graphics Controller

    Me, too! :)

Since you can't PM yet, give me your Email address, xxxxxatxxxxdotxxx, and I'll try to send you the video driver. It's 9.5mb attachment.

    Thanks db!

send it to psieg2atgmaildotcom greatly appreciated!

    Phil

Yes Toughasnails I read that thread thoroughly, and only wrote my first post as a result of not finding the answer I needed for my particular unit in that thread, or any other.

I was perfectly happy lurking and absorbing knowledge until I had something to contribute! I followed the instructions there and the ones posted for the CF-18 with no luck, and after 5 hours of tinkering finally broke down and posted.

It seems db04p71 understands my plight and is offering a possible fix.

    Thanks for the input.
