Hi,
I recently bought two Toughbooks. One is a CF-52 and the other is a CF-29. The CF-52 now has a 1TB SSHD, 4GB RAM, and is running Windows 7.
The CF-29 has an 80 GB IDE HDD, 1.5 GB RAM, a touchscreen, and is also running Windows 7. I intend to install a large SATA SSHD soon.
I am curious about the exact model of the CF-29, as the model # on the case does not follow the usual rules. The numbers on the bottom of the case are:
AB0123456789
6KKSA87770 R
From looking at the BIOS setup utility I THINK I have an 'N' model (Mark 5). Is that correct? Anybody know why the printed model # is so odd?
Thanks,
Bob Clevenger

Welcome to the Forum Bob,
The numbers on the bottom don't mean much on used units as the bottom case could have been change out. We need the full model number from the BIOS. Neither of those numbers you listed are model numbers. -
Wow, that was fast!
OK, the model # from BIOS is: CF-29NWQGZBM

One of the guys here TechTuff sells a SATA adapter kit for CF-29 that is said to work well
IDE SATA Adapter for SSD or SATA Hard Drive Panasonic Toughbook CF 29 HD Caddy | eBay
He also sells just the adapter separately although I'd get the kit so you can easily swap back the original spinner if you ever wanted to.
New TB owner with a model # question.
