I've seen it there before :)
And I can say I don't believe it still worked after that race. Or there is SSD installed.
CF-18/19 with standard HDD can't survive such bumps - reboots often and then OS dies.
    I can demonstrate that.
Fast 5cm drops on concrete - and it's dead in 20 seconds :)
No problem with SSD, that's true.

Seen the Youtube before as well.

    whats fast? 2-3 second bumps?
    with original drives?
Interesting to hear as I had it sometimes with external drives that failed after a small 2-3 cm bump when you put it down while writing.
Wouldn't expect that from TB drives.

A bit oftopic, but I know my old apple laptops had build in sensors to prevent shocks before drives where equiped with this.
It went horribly wrong when I bought a new drive that had similar sensor and they wouldn't work together normaly.

Usually apples get bruised when you drop them :D. Bruised apples don't taste as good. :( I like a good McIntosh. Don't care for Red Delicious much........

    Up-down(boom)-up-down(boom) :) Fast enough :))
With original and not original drives. But original are standard Hitachi etc. They do what they can do, but vibration kills them.
I had 3 equal problems this year.
One of them is CF-19 on this car
    d4235802c760.jpg
They had 2 backup toughbooks, and won that competition.
But after that I've upgraded their HDD to SSD and don't have problems now :)

Built-in sensors are good for standard laptops - they save HDDs sometimes. But they don't allow to use laptop on the move :)

Hmm, good that I already have a SSD inside! My car doesn't look like that one in any way, but my one year old son has gotten the nickname Bambam for a good reason!

OG; did a little LOL at IP109 :D

I seen that video before, but didn't realize it was that old. Think it was earlier this year or late last year when I seen it. They aren't really going that fast on that 4 wheeler. I could break out the old 200x and get more air than that easy, lol.

So after reading this, I have a TB CF-19 MK2, I intend on using it in a Jeep, minor of roading but still vibration. Do i need to change the HD to SSD? This is used inside a K-9 search and Rescue Jeep.

No it should be fine. I use my 19 on my ATV 4X4 and have never had a problem and it gets very muddy and wet :D but with a SSD you will see a lot more speed for sure. I have a SSD in it now only because I wanted more " Get up and go"

Switch to MK3 at first :) Screen is 100 times better.
CF-19 with HDD will work on Jeep including offroad. But don't trust your life/victory to this hardware. Always have a backup device ;)

Thanks, I found a CF-18 MK5, working on price now. i may be able to get it for way cheap, we had a rescue call and my Cf-T5 screen could not be seen where we were, backup is dispatch the he used Google earth and the gps coordinates they called in to locate the subjects on the river and then I was able to determine where the closest place to put in to get to the injured lady. i would love to have a CF-19MK5 or better, but i am paying for this myself. How do you like win 8, saw specs on MK3 screen would love one.

The prices have dropped down on the Mk1 and Mk2 19's. I am working on upgrading right now to a Mk2 19. Just got to get everything installed.

    Bought MK3 for USD 350 incl.shipping yesterday ;)
There are many auctions now for MK3 - no sense to buy MK1-2.

Anyone can get one for that price if you are willimg to sit there on ebay all day long and keep checking the newly listed Toughbooks and hope a deal comes along. I picked up many deals that way but I can tell you I wasted a good many days doing that too.

Sounds very time consuming. What memory do you recommend for a Cf-19 MK2 fully loaded? I have 1.5 now and saw the 4gb max.

I would go with the 4GB max. I have picked it up for as low as $25.00 but most of the time around $30.00

Ebay has a client for Android phones.
I don't have to sit and keep checking anymore :)
And almost all auctions end at my night :))))
Anyway, it's better to buy it once and use with pleasure - 1000 nit led LCD is really muuuch better. I think it's the most important step in Toughbook development.

This is my feelings only BUT that is the worst excuse for an app. I don't mind checking ebay with my phone but what I don't like is being forced to use there app when it was working fine before using the standard browser....I don't like ebay mobile, it is crap. The only reason why I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was it was the only phone that did not MAKE me go to ebay mobile.

    Blair,

I don't like that app either. Formatting is way off for me. When I use the regular mobile side in my browser look at the very bottom. It will say "classic site" and take you to the full ebay site.

I found all of mine on Craigslist, was able to try them out and with some problems seen, get them cheaper than advertised. either way the MK3-MK6 is way higher than the others.
