    Hello everyone!

I just wanted to officially say "Hello" since my new CF28 arrived. (Only 1 day late due to inexperienced UPS temp driver!) Thank you TOUGHBOOK! This machine exceeds all my expectations..... especially the GPS.
I don't think I will ever buy another laptop without built in GPS again, just too convenient!
I drove around all day at work today leaving a GPS trail and push pin details of job sites (Micro... Streets and Trips) at the different stops. Now I can send work a REAL visual daily log!!!! It's great that I don't have to mess with external cords (or easy to loose BT GPS) etc every time I get back into the van! (Although I could always use a BT GPS if I need too!

Next I pulled out my Sony W810 and checked out the Bluetooth...

Way too cool... I can use my phone as a remote control for the desktop....as a mouse, etc for the desktop, media player and presentations.

I can even switch task windows "alt-tab" style.

The Wifi is great too! I have soo many things to setup and try out with this laptop! (Linux, Multi-boot, multi card Wifi setup....oh man, I just need more time)

Does anyone know where to get a vehicle mount for the cf28s.... I haven't seen too many on E-bay. I am also going to need another battery or two, preferably one to fit into the module bay.

Funny thing is, I know its rugged, but now I want to drop this one less than my old Eurocom!!!

Well, off to look for some more GPS software, I just downloaded a trial for GPS Gate so send the output to more than one gps program, I may need to purchase this, it works great!

    Gratefuldeadbolt.

Grateful.... Glad to see you are enjoying it! ...AND using it!

I have been toying ith buying one of the rebuilt batteries from the seller on ebay asking $85. He sends you one and then you send in yours. What you get is "supposed" to be even better than the extended version of the batteries that are so hard to find.

Look in the ebay stores for the front media bay batteries. They are going for $89 I think. They guy had a bunch of them.

Can you do us a favor when you have the time? Please tell us more about using your phone as a remote for the desktop. That sounds pretty cool! I forgot to ask you too.... I have Motorola Phone Tools I can send you if you have a Motorola Phone. It is an lder version... Back when hey used to give it away but it is still updateable.

Make sure you use the battery refresh every so often to keep your battery in good shape.

Welcome to the Toughbook Club and to the forum!

There are some mounts on ebay. Search "CF-28 mount". Ledco makes some good ones, and so does Kodiak. (I've driven by the Ledco facility many times though, it's right near my ex-girlfriend's place).

Welcome to the bunch. I read that also http://curioustech.home.insightbb.com/xport.html is good to share serial GPS on Windows. Some people say that it uses too much CPU, and prefer GPSGate. I have never used either, I cannot say so either way.

As for the mount, I just got a Kodiak iDock from some folks down in AZ (ebay store) who have a bunch. I plan to have it installed just after Christmas. Its pretty cheap for what you get (though they are as-is) since the new ones are about $800. And they are selling for about $120 with shipping.

The iDock also has a wireless pass through (to connect the dock to a remote antenna) which I think is currently hooked up to the wireless modems (if you have one) on the toughbooks -- but someone who has more experience with the insides of these should follow-up on that one.
