I've been super busy with a ton of projects lately, and I've also noticed my bandwidth getting sucked like a man in a sketchy part of Thailand after he gave some woman $5.

    What that means?
I've been here less, because I need to finish my car ASAP.

It also means my home webserver is getting all the bandwidth, and not me.

So... Shortly after the new domain is registered and DNS is active, modly.org will be the place to get the new files instead of modly.net.

What else does this mean? Faster files for everybody, and it will be permanent while I'm moving (Because while I'm driving to Oregon, my nice MacPro will be in the car with me). Also, when I get to Oregon I'll be on my buddy's wireless, and he already had a port 80 in use, so... you fill in the rest.

This also means that once I get some details sorted out, I can hand out a sub-account to select members here so they can upload useful files for everybody (Service manuals, drivers, etc).

What this also will mean is that all 15 people on my banned IP list will be able to get Toughbook drivers. Yeah... you 15 people did not read the readme. No webwhackers. Well, as soon as this thing is up... you can get files again.

So while I may be busy, at least my bandwidth won't be...

Anyways, more details to come when I have everything ready.

Edit; I got some basic stuff done for an interface, but here it is; http://www.modly.org/Toughbook/

If you have any manuals to throw me, send em' on over! If I forgot to mention your name on the manuals page, don't be shy and remind me.

Modly, Tried to send you the M34 Service Manuals yesterday and got a message that the file was too large for your end (12mb). I was going to break them down by MK today and try again. Should I wait for new server or go ahead and break them down?

But we'll have the service manuals! :p

Capt.dogfish, I replied to your email, and sent you the FTP server info.

I gotta figure out the "legality" of hosting recovery CDs though, as far as linking to them from here...

    Just a thought...

Maybe folks could "request" the recovery cd from you instead of hosting where every tom, dick and harry could download and make copies to sell on Ebay....

Might make for a little more aggravation, but you would at least know where they are going.

Good point. I'll keep recovery CDs separate so nobody leeches them.

It's all good. Once I finish uploading everything via FTP, I'll change all the goodies over..

I'm slowly going to implement an actual interface too.

I just hope they provide a good enough pipe for bandwidth...

Added the new link to my sig, and the first post in this thread. I'll update the other links.

I hope it's fast enough for our use.. Once in a while it seems very pokey.

No problem! I've gotta say thanks to all the people who contributed service manuals. We've now got something for the CF-18, 19, 28, 29, 30, and M34. I've also got some accessory manuals that I'll put up on the next rainy day (I'm saving them for a rainy day because I gotta use all the sunny days to work on the car). So on Friday alot more progress should be done.

I will make a drivers section for all of the above, starting with the 29, and I will revamp the 28 drivers section with an interface and more self-explained file names. Once that is done, I'll go through the forum and search for my old links and correct them.

Yeh, w/o your web-site, I wouldn't have found the recovery disk and got my "1920's"(as the guy at Panasonic Tech support called it) CF-27 back running.

Modly... Once again... Thank you for going above and beyond! We ALL greatly appreciate the time and effort you put in to help us all out.

    A few suggestions....
    1. You cannot host Recovery Disks and have a link to this website/forum. I don't think the owners would permit that. Keep those under your hat. (As it were.) You can only post that which is in the public domain... You are just basically organizing everything and making stuff available to all.

    2. Can you come up with some sort of membership? That way you could control those who have access. That would stop the leaches and the ebay hackers who would, without a doubt, download everything and sell it on a DVD. It would be fairly easy to do. If you needed help on the admin part... I'll help out.

    3. How are you hosting these? Do you have your own server or are you hosting these on a mobile source? (IE, laptop.) If you are paying for space I would suggest that you put a PayPal donation tab on there somewhere. I know that I would certainly donate to the cause and I KNOW that others here would do the same. It would certainly help you out a little.

    Just let me know...

    1. I kinda figured. I suppose that will be on a "request" basis...

    2. I'll see what I can do about a user requirement, but it'll be a few weeks. But leeching won't be a huge problem for now, since it is now on an external host.

    3. It's a third party hosting company (Paid), and the donate button is already there ;) (And there is no obligation to donate, It's only $50 a year, so it's not too bad). But bandwidth issues are no longer a problem so people can download as much as they want without issues on my end.
