As stated HERE: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/647697-need-panasonic-moderator.html - Charles needs a new mod.
We need to vote here, I feel. Off the get go, I am going to start with Me, toughasnails (Blair), Silver Trooper (Robert), Teo and Sprintfield (Ken)
If you don't want to have anything to do with it, fair enough. Just let me know. Likewise, if you feel you're a better canidate, let me know too. I just took the TOP 5 contributors on TBT (minus Alex and Rick) and put them here to get a good idea.
Thanks
P.S, I want to step up to the plate, because as you all know I'm insane and LOVE it here![]()
UPDATES:
Sadlmkr (Jeff): OUT. Doesn't want to be a mod.
Teo (Ohlip): OUT. Doesn't want to be a mod.
Springfield (Ken): OUT. Doesn't want to be a mod.

sadlmkr....Jeff seems to have a calm personality and the maturity we need in a moderator.
-
I'll keep the orional thread updated.
Thanks for the input -
I vote in the same order as Rob had listed. IOW 1 vote for Rob.
Jeff -
Tough decision as I would vote for any of them.
-
JEFF IS OUT.
NOTED.
Thanks -
I voted for Rob, as he seems to be on this board every minute of the day
-
I'm on EVERY WORK DAY of the week from 10AM - 6PM Central time and on the weekends too...
It's what I do for a living -

My guess they will be looking for 2 mods since that is what we had in the past. So Rob you cover the day shift and I will take care of the night shift
Really what it comes down to is not who gets the job(s) but to have someone that we can get when a problem comes up. I think everyone on this forum would agree with me on this. -
Thanks guy for being one of the candidate but as Jeff said I also decline of being one of the MOD... I have a day job on which I don't have access to computer or on the web. What I have is a dozen of knives and a ton of fish,Lol

But as Rob has said, this is what he does for a living - he's a Company Representative. Toughasnails devotes a considerable amount of personal time to this forum for the enjoyment of being involved....need I say more.
If it's two MOD's then case closed - ello.
TAN gets my vote....your devoted dude....I'll tip me hat to ya'.

No offense taken. I represent a company, yes, granted, but I also manage an entire corporation and am the sole head of the Toughbook division responsible for THOUSANDS of Toughbooks
.
Thanks guys -

Some of the Forum Members are likely to take the view that the task at hand should be undertaken by someone with a more impartial view.
This is one of those " Don't Kill The Messenger Communications".

I voted for someone modest...

If anyone knows any member you feel would make a good moderater or even yourself go to the first page and send a PM to the mod. They want your input.

I would vote for Mnem. He has been here for a long time, and is a very knowledgeable contributor.
-
OK, I voted for Teo as he hadnt received a vote yet, and I just wanted to be the first American to vote for a Canadian for an important international post.
Now that hes withdrawn his name from contention, effectively nullifying my vote, I feel somewhat disenfranchised and empty.
But seriously, everyone on that list has my vote, as youve all shown a dedication to the forum, and each of you, in your own way, has stepped up at one time or another to assist virgin posters, directing or prodding them gently in the right direction, when a question was posted.
I never saw any of you slink away from a questionable post, or explode when someone asked how to remove a bio password; you simply reinforced the rules with patience and civility. Most other forums cant boast this level of communal cooperation, as our disagreements are for the most part, almost sickeningly sweet. SO I say make them all mods.
Just my 2 cents.
Sam -
I don't think you should have the words prodding and virgins in the same post.. Just saying..
-
Well, I’d say it was a Freudian slip, but then that would be wrong as well, in context and application!
-
I believe the most important qualities in a moderator are maturity and interest. Eschewing bombast and hyperbole are close seconds. I have voted accordingly.

Why do we need new mods! I thought that the old ones were doing a great job! A PM would be nice!
-
I'm guessing that our mods have resigned, probably due to other obligations. Certainly Rick and Alex were great mods (the BEST IMHO) but Alex has been inactive for a long time and I gather Rick is busy trying to make a living. I'm not sure that most forum members understand the time commitment involved in being a mod, especially a good one.
CAP -
Rick is on the road ALOT for his job...
-
Edit: the only moderation needed is when interlopers ooze in from other forums and start trouble. As an on-line community, this place is remarkably well behaved. I do miss Alex taking down my salacious avatars though. That was a fun "cat and mouse" game, if you'll pardon the pun. -
-
Well you still have his name up top to vote on him, sillier. And I would like to see Mnem's name up there so I can cast my vote, please.
-
I've kept my voice out of this conversation as I've been offered the post and politely refused more than once already. However, since I'm being suggested as a candidate again, I'll pass on my recent conversation with Blair.
The core criteria here, in my mind, are NOT an absolute knowledge of ToughBooks and rabid brand loyalty. Rather, they are a cool head and the ability to be present on at least a semi-regular basis. The ToughBook addiction is more of a motivational plus than a Moderator necessity; as long as you have enough of it to keep you coming back reliably, it's enough.
I do believe this IS a mantle we need to take up again from within the ranks of the forum; we have been granted some special leeway because of the generally "anti-1337" nature of our community and the relative infrequency of all out flamewars in our forum. We are overall a pretty easygoing bunch.
I'd hate to see us lose that and have to go back to being Modded by the same guys who have to Mod the HP & Dell forums. Our "colorful discussions" would be shut down in a heartbeat 'cuz they just don't have the time to figure out who's being a butthead; they barely have the time to pull the plug and spank the names they see all the time if things continue. Then BAM! on to the next brushfire.
With this in mind, I'll say I don't mind helping out as a Mod; I've done it before elsewhere. However, the nature of my work can keep me away from my groups for days, sometimes weeks at a time. I don't believe I would be a good choice as the only Moderator. I would gladly serve as a Co-Moderator within that limitation, however.

Namaste. -
Now you have a team.
I believe TAN, Rob, and Mnem should be enlisted as a group.
All in favor say aye aye sir. -

Robs got my vote..

<sniff> Sorry I have been away guys!
I started a new job and it is taking A LOT of my time. I spend my time on the road all day and get home in the evenings. Once I get the moves down and establish myself a litle better I should be able to spend more time on the forum. I still build a Toughbook every now and then to keep my hand in it. I have several CF-29s and a few CF-30s that I dork around with. -

-
I see Rick is back! HELLO RICK! Long time no see
*CHEERS!* -
Hey Rob.... At this point I don't know how much time I'll have. It's a day by day thing. I was out on the road with my boss today and will be for the rest of the week. In early tonight... I got home at 8:30... Tomorrow will be a long day. Since my territory is just starting up... and Wednesday is supposed to be sloppy around here so I am going to surprise him. I plan on pacing my trunk with my AR-15, H&K USP 9mm, Beretta PT92, My Colt SAA and an old 1952 Winchester Model 74 22 LR and a little over 1000 of ammo and taking him to the range for the day... That ought to get me a good review! HA! We should have a blast!

Blair is the new Panasonic moderator - thanks for all the recommendations and applications via PM. We may be adding another moderator at a later date.
New mod for the Panny part of NBR needed.
