I am joining the force at Rugged Depot and leaving Proton. I will be a 3rd addition to the sales force and will be working from home. It's a decision that I would be FOOLISH not to take. I don't want to move to Texas but inevedably, I think I will later (a couple years down the road) just because I can probably make more money that way since the headquarters is in Magnolia, TX.

I will still do tons of business with Proton and will be working very hard to try to keep Proton going in the Toughbook business, training Jack and others to do good there.

2 weeks ago, Proton got served a lawsuite by Microsoft for copywrite infrigement. Proton will file for bankrupsy if we can't settle outside of court for a reasonable amount. This is the reason I'm making a change.

Toughbooktalk will stay. No worries there! :) Rob will still be the crazy Rob that he is now too. If you need me, you know how to reach me. I'm not chaning any phone numbers or emails at all. If you need a Toughbook, you can still get a good, GRADE A one from me at a reasonable price (just like before).

Thank you all for the continued support and business! :)

i have dealt w/ your new employer. very nice ladies there. good luck.

regarding microsoft, for small biz, throw their letters into trashcan (i am talking about the first letter their lawyer sent) and never respond. golden rule. anyone responds to it, then endless pain.

Hey Rob if you make it to Texas we're not all inbreed hillbillies down here, lol. Just make sure you pick up your free state required gun and saddle at the border.

First off; did y'all (get used to Texas Talk ;)) get served “Citation and Complaint” (the initial processes of a civil suit); or merely a “nasty letter” from Microsoft's attorneys?

In any case, tell the Mickeysoft bunch:

“... you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.” :p

Oh, what was your name in the States
Was it Thompson, or Johnson, or Bates
Did you murder your wife and fly for your life
Say, what was your name in the States

You may have to have a few gray hairs to know what this means.

Jeff is an old fart, that's all you need to know ;)

But seriously, here are the TOP 4 reasons to move:

    4) More money
    3) Carry a gun
    2) Housing is CHEEP
    1) NO FRAKKIN SNOW!

My "people" were with the Donner party but elected to take the northern route as they had mules rather than oxen. (faster) They may have been in the party that first went over the Lassen trail. They were down to packing what they could on their mules when the reputed trail turned into ...well...a trail...the wagons wouldn't fit. Or so the story goes. :D
Cow Creek near Red Bluff, CA was named after the families milk cow after the "locals" took it away from my gggrandfather. Looked like a pincushion. (the cow). (Family history, provide your own salt)

    Jeff..old what????...

Yeah, but only by 125 miles.
Lombard, IL to Garberville, 2122 miles-Houston, TX to Garberville, 2247 miles.
Back in the day I had a friend from Detroit who's brother got drafted by the Cowboy's. He gave the following as his top reasons for moving to Tejas.
    1. He could drive a "Black 'Lac" (Cadillac) with factory air and a set of longhorns on the hood.
    2. He could legally shoot a man for offending his lady.
    YMMV

(If you want to mov to Texas, I hope you can speak Spanish, friend!)

I prefer to just work there and visit for a while, and THEN go home. It's hot as Hades there in the summer!

Lived in Galveston, TX for 8 months back in 1983, until Hurricane Allicia hit the island-causing mass destruction and havok. I trust and hope as well that this will NOT be the case with your experience.

I love the random morning fog in DFW. Quite beautiful in the cool dewy morning of....the morning.
An unexpected but nice blanket of fog....until the heat cranks up and then it goes away.
