Hi ALL, Its been a long time since Ive been here, reason for that is that you guy's was a great help & my CF-19 Mk3 has been running spot on

Ive just picked up a MK4, CF-19R6RAX1M, can some please decode the model number for me as Im a little confused (as always ) as to what screen its got.

    I also have 3 batteries (2 new) that I use with my Mk3 with number CFVZSU48, 10.65v, 5.7Ah.

    The Mk4 has a CF-VZSU58U 11.1v, 5.6Ah

The question is, can I use the Mk3 battery in the Mk4 ?

One last thing, am I right in that the Mk4 will take up to 8Gb ram

    Thanks All

    Stolen from the net

The Trusted Platform Module offers facilities for the secure generation of cryptographic keys, and limitation of their use, in addition to a random number generator.[4][5] It also includes capabilities such as remote attestation and sealed storage, as follows:

    Remote attestation
Creates a nearly unforgeable hash key summary of the hardware and software configuration. The program encrypting the data determines the extent of the summary of the software. This allows a third party to verify that the software has not been changed.
    Binding
Encrypts data using the TPM endorsement key, a unique RSA key burned into the chip during its production, or another trusted key descended from it.[6]
    Sealing
Encrypts data in a similar manner to binding, but in addition specifies a state in which the TPM must be in order for the data to be decrypted (unsealed).[7]

Software can use a Trusted Platform Module to authenticate hardware devices. Since each TPM chip has a unique and secret RSA key burned in as it is produced, it is capable of performing platform authentication.

Generally, pushing the security down to the hardware level in conjunction with software provides more protection than a software-only solution.[citation needed] However even where a TPM is used, a key would still be vulnerable while a software application that has obtained it from the TPM is using it to perform encryption/decryption operations, as has been illustrated in the case of a cold boot attack. This problem is eliminated if key(s) used in the TPM are not accessible on a bus or to external programs and all encryption/decryption is done in the TPM

A Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a specialized chip on an endpoint device that stores RSA encryption keys specific to the host system for hardware authentication.

Each TPM chip contains an RSA key pair called the Endorsement Key (EK). The pair is maintained inside the chip and cannot be accessed by software. The Storage Root Key (SRK) is created when a user or administrator takes ownership of the system. This key pair is generated by the TPM based on the Endorsement Key and an owner-specified password.

A second key, called an Attestation Identity Key (AIK) protects the device against unauthorized firmware and software modification by hashing critical sections of firmware and software before they are executed. When the system attempts to connect to the network, the hashes are sent to a server that verifies that they match expected values. If any of the hashed components has been modified since last started, the match will fail, and the system can not gain entry to the network.

TPM chips can be used with any major operating system and works best in conjunction with other security technologies such as firewalls, antivirus software, smart cards and biometric verification.

The term TPM is sometimes used in reference to the set of specifications applicable to TPM chips.

The only problem is it's not cheap to buy for the MK3 but the MK4 I think is a lot cheaper.

update....MK4 memory is around $30.00 for a 4GB stick on ebay

MK3 and MK4 batteries are same. Your 58U is for HazLoc edition laptop (the one you have).
But yours MK4 will work with standard batteries too. I use one yellow tip (58U) battery and many blue (U48) batteries in my laptop.

    DDR3, remember.

    Intel info
DDR3-800 is enough, memory works at 400MHz. But you can use any (not lower) rated.
    Mine is PC3-10700.
So, yes, it will work :)

P.S. Be ready to disassemble your laptop for internal memory module installation.

Very happy, it arrived last night, after removing leather'ish case its like brand new not a mark on it, I then checked the hours, I was very very surprised with the very low 130 hours :)

Its a shame Ive got to pull it apart to change memory and hard drive

Ive had touchscreen on all my other CF's but dont quite understand what the digitizer does, it works, there's a dot on the screen that follows the end of the stylus when the stylus is about an inch away from the screen, when I press the button on the stylus that dot on the screen is there with a circle around it but it dont seem to do anything

It should work like a right click once you get the hang of it. I really like a digitizer for writing in one note or putting notations on photos..

The operators manual discusses stylus use in detail..

Sorry to be thick but I still dont get this, on the Mk3 Ive got a touchscreen, if i want to say go to control panel I can tap on start, then control panel and the control panel opens.
On the Mk4 with dual screen it does the same, I just really cant understand what the dot on the screen does when it follows the end of the stylus

Thanks, the manual is installed and on the desktop, Ive had a read and it only says this:

<Only for model with dual touch>
You can use the digitizer function to perform the same operation as the touch pad and mouse by touching the screen surface
with the digitizer pen (included). And you can use the touchscreen function to perform the same operation as the touch pad
and mouse by touching the screen with your finger etc.

For further information, perform the following procedure.

    Win 7
Click (Start) - [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound] - [Pen and Touch] - [Flicks] - [Practice using flicks].

    WinXP
Click [start] - [All Programs] - [Get Going with Tablet PC].
When touching with the digitizer pen, the touchscreen function is disabled.

    To right-click
    Touch and hold the object
    <Only when using digitizer pen>
press and hold the button(A) of the digitizer pen (included) and then tap the object

I think its just me being thick or maybe you've got something different in your manual

the "dot" is the same thing as the arrow with a standard mouse.

info from here... Navigating, Training, Writing, And Typing - Asus' Eee Slate EP121/B121: A Windows 7-Based Tablet PC

Navigating a Windows 7 tablet isn't any different than moving around Windows on a notebook. If your tablet has a touchscreen, you simply move your fingers around the screen to move the cursor. For right-clicks, hold a finger against the screen until a circle forms, which then brings up the right-click menu. With a digitizer pen, holding the tip against the screen brings up a smaller animated circle, achieving the same function. If your pen has buttons, you can also configure one of them to operate as a right-click in your Windows 7 Control Panel.

    http://www.andyrathbone.com/2012/03/12/how-do-i-right-click-on-a-touch-screen-tablet/
To right-click an item on a Windows 7 or Windows 8 tablet, follow these two simple steps:

Touch the item with your finger or stylus, and keep the finger or stylus pressed down gently. In a moment, a square or circle will appear, shown in the top, left figure.
Lift your finger or stylus, and the right-click menu appears, listing all the things you can do with that item.

Check your stylus; on some of the more expensive tablets, the stylus has a button on its side. Pushing the button while pointing at an item also fetches the right-click menu. That’s the same menu you see when you click a mouse’s right button on a Windows computer.

How to remove the annoying windows 7 circle

Having just reinstalled windows 7 on my laptop. I’m once again trying to find ways to kill off a few windows 7 ‘features’ that mess up Photoshop, 3dsMax, and WACOM tablets .

First things to remove are the annoying circles that appear when you are try to use a wacom tablet. They get in the way and slow you down. You don’t need them if you have the wacom pen buttons.
How to remove the pen and touch right click… (the radar circle)

    1.Open the windows control panel.
    2.Select ‘pen and touch’
3.In ‘pen options’ select ‘press and hold’ and press the settings button.
4.Uncheck the ‘enable press and hold for right-clicking’ option.
5.click ok to close the dialogs.

    PressAndHold
How to remove the splash circle.

    1. Click windows start and type gpedit.msc into the command line
    2. Click gpedit.msc from the programs list to open the ‘local group policy editor’
    3. Navigate to… User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Tablet PC > Cursor.
    4. Set ‘Turn off pen feedback’ to enabled.

The radar circle and the splash circle are the things that really bug me when I’m using the wacom pen. But you can also dig a bit deeper…
    Disable_flicksHow to disable flicks

    1.Open the windows control panel.
    2.Select ‘pen and touch’
    3.Choose the flicks tab
4.Uncheck ‘Use flicks to perform common actions quickly and easily’.
5.Uncheck ‘Display flicks icon in the notifications area’
6.click ok to close the dialogs.
Additionally you can turn off all the tablet PC components

1.With the control panel view in “view by category mode”.
2.Go into Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On or Off
    3.Untick the Tablet PC Components

The dot on the screen shows where the pen will interact with the screen WHEN YOU TOUCH THE SCREEN. the manual you receive from Blair will explain the tapping/dragging, actions available AFTER the pen touches the screen.

So it was me being thick, that makes a change

I just assumed with the digitizer + stylus with button you wouldn't have to touch the screen, always learning

I know you guy's that use the digitizer to its full potential probably find it fantastic, Im not knocking it but I really dont see the point of it, a dot on the screen to show you where the stylus will interact, I suppose, me using a touch screen CF-18 & 19 over the last 4 years have only had a few misses with stylus and screen icon

Thanks for all your help guy's up to now, Im sure i'll have more questions

Once you get used to it the digitizer is much more accurate than touch especially for handwriting. You can rest a finger on the screen to steady your hand without unintended results.

Ive managed to change hard drive and load XP Pro SP3 but Im now having a problem with a couple of drivers.

Ive got under "other devices" the yellow question mark, in details Ive got:

    ACPI\MAT001F\2&DABA3FF&0

I think this is missing hotkey plus driver, problem is the only driver on the Panasonic website for the Mk4 with XP is:

    CF-19[R/S/T]xxxxQx

and its not doing the job

    Any idea's

    Thanks

Mixing 667Mhz and 800Mhz sticks (both Samasung 4 GB, DDR3 M471B5273CHO) is not going to be a problem is it as the machine only runs at 400Mhz ?

It will work much better if it is matched RAM... Toughbooks are quirky on RAM.
