I picked up a W7 at the store today to replace my Asus, they didn't have the W8 in stock until a months time which wasn't helpful as that was what I had been looking at.
Anyway, I have never had a Panasonic before, so just wondering if anyone could shred some light on some of its workings.
1) In the BIOS there is something called 'Accumulative Operating Time'. I thought it was something on the lines of usage time but I ve been using it for more than 4 hours and its still at "0 Hours".
2) Is it possible to upgrade the HDD to an SSD, and what is the position of the warranty on that. None of the manuals talk about taking out the HDD at all.
3) Are the Toughbook packaging/box meant to be sealed? Mine wasn't so I was just wondering if someone had pinch something from it! lol
Thanks! It would be a great help.![]()

1) Don't know why it woudn't be going up... thats weird... maybe you can use it for 5 years for thousands of hours and pass it off as new
...
2) you could most def do an SSD drive, but that would cost alot of money and the write times are so gawd awefull SLOOOW on SSD drives however (read times are blazing though)
3) If you baught it "Brand New" then yes, it should most def be sealed. Alot of ebayers that sell these things as "Brand new" will specify that the seal has been broken to take pictures or whatever. -
Hey thanks for the reply.
Yeah its still at "0 Hours"... lol
Well I bought it from a retail shop, it doesn't actually look like there was any seals or stickers to break though..? -
I donno man... if you wanted the W8 so bad, why didn't you just wait for the w8? I waited ANXIOUSLY for my CF-30 and when the right one came around I was confident in what I bought

Yeah the W8 would be nice, but the wait was too much as I d like to get my notebook sorted since I didn't have a ultraportable for work since my old one was picked up.
I m still thinking about an SSD for it though, but at the moment the 2.5" drive seems good. I ve been using 4200rpm 1.8" drives for a while and this feels so fast in comparison lol ! -
I have a Samsung ssd in my cf-30
Not cheap , but very fast
There is about 5 brands of ssd drives that work properly
All the cheap ssd drives have issues

My CF-30 showed 0 hours for the first several hours... Then after reboot and a few recharges it started registering hours correctly. Hmmmm... And they do so well on all the other things.
If you bought it NEW from a retail store it should have been SEALED! Otherwise it may be a return or refurb... Which you should have gotten a better deal on... (Unless you already got a deal or bought it on sale)
Still... You may want to call Panasonic (1-800-LAPTOP5 ) and ask what the warranty is based upon your serial number just to make sure. It should start at day 1... The day you bought it! If they tell you it started last year... Return the laptop and burn the store to the ground...
j/k
New toughbook and have a few questions!
