I've had a few of those come by my office... one magically disappeared too :(... I think a former employee stole it... Very neat little gadget...

Is the one you have one from BP gas?

FYI... These are not approved by the FCC in the USA. I am unsure what the penalties of using a device not approved by the FCC are but I figured I would throw that out there

I had a good day yesterday! CF-P2, 3G card and my new Toughbook logo all arrived!!!

the CF-P2 is working fine with my UK O2 and Vodaphone sim cards, voice, text and GPRS data... I cant seem to get the wifi to operate though. It looks like the ROM doesnt have as many options as my other WM2003 devices... but in the network cards menu it does list a Panasonic wifi module... more playinf is needed as i spent most of yesterday digging a landrover out of a field!!! :)

Can we have a review with pictures? Very important to me is runtime, whats it like? How rugged is it?

OT: Im glad panny produced a phone finally, but I don't know if the "extra" functionallity of a smartphone will be worth the lost battery time. Also have a look at the Sonim phones.

If you find a vendor for spare battery's, let me know
The longer they are out of production, the more difficult to find one

And yes, 7 to 8h is the max for a smart phone while playing with it.

Well, I won the auction and it looks like I am getting the CF-P2 for $102 shipped from the UK to the US. Oh what a slippery slope we perch on in these forums....Its like this tiny voice in my head that keeps telling me I must experience each model line at least once....Oh well, a new toy for daddy to play with and mod!

Yeah, I am going to get a Sonim Enduro XP3.

Frankly, if the Panasonic will not do at least tri-band, it is not "world-wide" enough for me. But yop have to like the price of the Paansonic compared to the Sonim!

Please do let us know how your experience with one of those is. And let me know at what price point you were able to get one.

The only reason why I don't own a sonim is because I am in college :p

The only reason that I have not ordered one yet is the cost. The best I have found them for in the states is $375. Best Buy is selling them now, I have heard. I will wait till I get my orders and then order that day. I can not tie that much money up in a phone without the need.

I liked the XP2 in that it allowed the use of a detachable antenna. The XP3 had that feature deleted!

No matter what some sales person tells you, no RF device, not one, works as well with a hidden antenna as a big external antenna. The antenna is the most critical part of any RF systems. All concessions to style and convenience are just that, a huge compromise.

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest! :D

thats the going rate! and i think the phone is the same colour as the rest - its from Centrica (British Gas) with the same handsfree and accessories as my grey/black one :)

    still, its a bargain for a win2003 smartphone :)

here are the instructions for the phone :)

He's okay if you live in Europe, he does not ship to the US, I tried him before I bought mine. As I said in the previous post, mine cost $57, but the shipping was another $45. But hey, for about $100 bucks I got a fully functional smart phone that is a Panasonic tough (although not as rugged as a Toughbook). All I have to do is pop in my SIM card and off I go. Yes, there should be no problem as I had a Nokia that had the same freq ranges (it was a Euro phone also) and it works fine in the US.

I'm not tempted to get one of these.

There's no software updates, batteries are hard to come by, and you're stuck with an old version of Windows mobile.

If you need a rugged phone, there are better options out there.

I have been told (and read) that the CF-M34 Power Supply fits these phones. Does anyone know for sure? I have an AC - DC and a DC-DC if that is so.

Well honestly, even if it isn't...
