    Hi to all,

Recently I bought a second hand CF19 and discovered some problems.

After a little bit searching in the www I stumbled acros this great forum and after reading allready a lot I decided to register and ask some help.

I have the model CF19KHRAXAE. OS Windows 7

First problem is that when I look at the device manger there is one unknown device, I tried to discover which device is but unfortunately I'm not able so.
When I look at the details tab there is shown: acpi\mat001f so maybe someone could tell me which driver here is missing.

The other problem is that the 4 keys right next to the brightnes control just do nothing. Maybe just a driver missing or are they not supported under windows 7.

    With kind regards, cedneb

The missing driver is for the Hotkeys - install the hotkey driver and the hotkey appendix app, and as an added bonus the Hotkeys (Fn-F1/2/3 etc) will all start working. :)

    Hi,

Thanks for the answer, but this doesn't solve my problem.

The FN-F1, FN-F2 and so on are working great.
Just the 4 buttons on the front face just next to the brightnes control are not working.

    rgds, cedneb

Maybe it's the Tablet buttons driver that's missing...can't remember what mat001f is of the top of my head and I'm not at home at the mo :(

Try installing the driver for the tablet buttons.

The drivers were not installed properly. There is a specific procedure which can be downloaded from Panasonic's Toughbook Driver site. Take a look at that.

    Hi,

    - Toughasnails, Yes, that are the buttons that I'm talking about.
    My model number is: CF19KHRAXAE

    - TopCop1988, I suppose It's the Hotkey driver mentioned on the Panasonic website or ?

    - kb9kst, I have the util2 directory on my harddisk but the meitbtn subdirectory isn't the. So should I try to find that one and run it ?

All of you allready many thanks for the great support.

What you need is the restore disks for your model of MK3 but it must match the COA on the bottom of your 19 or it will not work, a must have for any toughbook owner...trust me :D . Does your 19 have a W7 COA on the bottom or XP or Vista ?

TopCop just posted this download page for you Windows® 7 Support and Upgrade Information | TOUGHBOOK | Panasonic all the W7 drivers are there for you .

No, it has a Vista COA onthe bottom but W7 is installed as I bought it.
As I mentioned in my first post it's second hand and unfortunately I didn't get any drivers or installation CD/DVD with it.

So it dificult for me to find the right drivers.

But it's not only that some function keys are not working but also that I have not all or incorrect device drivers, I have still the problem with an unknown device.

It would be great if we could have a screen shot/pic of your device manager to see what you have installed . You can do this by using the " snipping tool " in start/accessories/snipping tool.
Did you check to see if the hotkey drivers/program are installed. Myself I would download all the drivers from the page that TopCop posted for you and print off the Windows 7 upgrade step by step guide or buy the Vista restore disk

I'm not sure that is correct for the CF-19 and CF-30. I believe the restore disc only checks that the MK# is correct. Both my CF-19 Mk2 and CF-30 Mk2 have a Vista Business COA. Both are XP downgrade models and came with XP and Vista restore discs. Either XP or Vista will restore with no problem.

The CF-19 didn't come with a factory W7 option so there is no factory W7 restore disk. It came with XP or Vista Business.

CEDNEB...I can remote in and check it out for you.

New comer here! after long hard work, Lol.

Jason, your wrong, there is a factory W7 restore dvd disk for CF-19MK3. I do have one bought three months ago on fleabay. I used it on CF-19KH and CF-19KD without any problem But they've change it the way it should be. What I am saying is that you need to activate the win 7 OS( need a valid license key, the embedded key on the restore disk is just for setup) compare to the restore disk lately that its already activated when installed.

    I also have a Win7 restore disc for a CF-30 Mk3 but, I don't have a Mk3 to try it out.

Win7 was released in the middle of the CF-19 Mk3 and CF-30 Mk3 run. Early models have a Vista COA. Later models have a Win7 COA. AFAIK, any CF-19 Mk3 restore disc, XP, Vista, or Win7 will work on any CF-19 Mk3. Same for the CF-30 Mk3.

The CF-30 W7 restore disk, used on a MK3 will do a W7 load which will boot on a MK1. After a couple of reboots and loading the Misc Driver manually the MK1 will have a completely functional W7 install. W7 is really pretty good at fixing itself once you get it to boot.

Maybe someone knows where I could buy the W7 disks.
I searched around a little bit but only find the Vista or XP disks.

On the other hand I don't need W7, XP is enough for me.
Is it possible to downgrade from W7 to XP ?

I loaded al drivers mentioned earlier in this thread also the Hotkey_11.1.1100.0.exe file is installed, but still I have one device unknown in the device manager. (acpi\mat001f) and 4 buttons on front are not working.

It seems to me I need just one missing driver, but I'm not able to find out which one.

I just searched a little further and found that some drivers on my CF19 where originally for the CF-W8, I replaced them whith CF19 drivers and now everything is working great.

Even performance ist ok for W7, because I thought a W7 installation on this machine would tear down the performance, but know I'm really happy whith this amazing little machine.

Only thing missing is integrated GPS, I start digging for that next week.
Maybe someone has some usefull info on installing GPS.

Everybody many thanks for the input, without you I never found out !

Yes, I read that one too, like some other threads concerning GPS, but I still have one question.
But I dig around some more on the www before I post a new thread.
