Greetings from the UK.
I have recently become the proud new owner of a Toughbook CF-T1. What a fabulous machine it is! I've added another 256Mb RAM, and it zips along.
I have read through all the relevant posts that I can find, but still have a few questions and observations.
The model number is CF-T1R6402DE. From other posts I have worked out that the D means Windows 2000, and the E is for UK. I'm guessing that the 40 is the size of the hard disk? Any thoughts on the other characters?
So, to my other questions. Does this lappy have the capability to add internal wifi? If so, does it already have the antenna/aerial or whatever built in?
Are there any disassembly instructions anywhere on the web, in English? I have found one in Japanese but it it is a little short on substance.
Is there a service manual available for download anywhere? If not, does anyone have an electronic copy, please?
I think that is enough to be going on with for now.
Thanks in advance for any help you gurus can offer.

Hi Pappy,
Thanks - I tried that, but to no avail.

P.S. Nice to be aboard. I've been lurking for the last couple of weeks.

P3-866MHz, 256MB, 40GB, 12.1"XGA, WIN 2000... These are the specs for your machine. Still was unable to determine the "2" identifier; that is either wireless (doubtful) or a "configuration option". Both selections produced zero results for me. If you go to config.toughbook.com, then select discontinued models, then select the t1, you can then see the different options I had to choose from for your model number. Aside: I had to open the page in IE as it will not work in Firefox for some reason.?

That might explain it. I have binned IE.
I'm off to bed now. Hope to find some info on my other questions in the morning. -
If wireless was even an option... That should help to answer his question... Play with the configurator a little... See what you can find.

Just in case anyone is interested, I have found an antenna on the left hand side but none on the right. This lappy has bluetooth, so, I assume that is what the antenna is for. It is probably what the '2' in the model number is.
Still looking for service manual or disassembly instructions - anyone?
