    jamesc76,
    What model number do you have? How much ram are you running? What operating system? XPPro?
    It helps to have the information above.

    Welcome to the nuthouse. :D

    You can press F2 while it's booting up to see the BIOS setup screens. This will show the full model number, something like CF-28xxxxxxx.

    CF-28 have 2 kinds of screens. 13.3 inch (diagonal) are 1024 x 768 max resolution. 12.1 inch are lower 800x600 resolution, and have colors that tend towards blue not much red. This was Panasonic's special "transflective" screen that provides maximum readability in bright sunlight. If there is a small round hole in the upper left edge of the silver screen bezel, you have the 12 inch transflective model.

    have built many Toughbooks for a mobile DJ business in NY... Starting out they were CF-28, 1GHz units but later we moved on to CF-29s. They run his business very well. The CF-28 screens are not that good... But in a dark setting, it didn't matter to him. He mainly runs his light shows from the Toughbooks. His main worry was someone spilling drinks on his laptop as he had several Dell laptops destroyed this way. He still uses all of the Toughbooks that I built for him.

    I think the CF-28 that you have may be a litle too slow... And the screens on the CF-28 is not known as a bright one. Move up to a CF-29 and you'll love it.

    P = 800 MHz, not the fastest which is 1 GHz
    B = 12.1 inch SVGA screen = 800 x 600 resolution

    I would agree with member Toughbook (Rick), you're better off getting a CF-29. Watch Ebay, you can sometimes get them complete with hard drive & caddy for around $200 (without CD, use a cheap external USB CD).

    Yes... You can change the screen... But it still won't be as bright as the CF-29. The resolution on your screen tends to give everything a bluish cast. But it would be better with the full-size 13.3" screen if you replaced it...
