    Hi Guys,

My Name is Flo and i'm from Germany.

I'm proud owner of 3 CF29 but only one is working. :)

Following the "repair basics" thread the first TB was not too expensive, the 2nd was cheap cause of it's blown motherboard and i started to play around with that two units.

#2 i bought as parts carrier for #1 as it carried a DVD Drive, 2nd Battery, 2nd HDD, a working Touchscreen and a German layouted KB.

I started to swap the screen and the keyboard. No big thing i thought...
BUUUT: after installing the both of them, putting back in battery and HDD i moved the power button and nothing happened else of the green power light. no venti, no hdd starts spinning... nothing...

Is there Anyone out there with a helping idea?

    __________________________________________________

After #1 didn't work any more and i do need the TB for work, i bought a 3rd one, put my HDD in, played with some drivers and got everything working as this is near to fully eqipped.

I even have the Siemens MC 75 WWAN / GPRS adaptor in that machine. The driver works, WIN shows it up in the network connections modems.

I have the MobiLink installed but this as even some other programs don't find that modem.
I do have a Vodafone SIM card for data use.

I found a thread "edipo" from italy managed this by entering something somewhere. but this thread is closed.

thanks, i will contact him. :)

yes, i tried the original parts also and i removed the ram.

    Unfortunately without success.

Did i get this right, that on the CF29 one ram unit is accessable through the cover and another mounted on an internal Port?

Mobilink is for the Novatel (EU740 or EU870D in Europe) modems.

If you have the Siemens MC75 module, you need the Checknet software/drivers.

One ram device is part of the mother-board. 256 for non-touch.(most of them) 512 for Touch.(most) I hesitate to say exactly since there are five marks and a whole bunch of configurations. Logically speaking the Touch units would have more.
The on-board ram is directly under the removable ram.

Jeff....look out he's getting logical

It seems i have to make some more posts until i can PM :)

    ohlip:

No water intrusion at all. I had the system running, decided to do the swap, shut everything down, took out the Battery and the HDD, turned the screws plugged the "old" parts off, the "new" parts on, put back in battery and hdd, hit the button ... and nothing happened.

I don't think there could come up any moist or so, as everythig was well tempered and i did the swap in my living room.

    sadlmkr:

okay, then i identified those chips i've seen there correctly. mine has also 512 MB

Well, more than likely it's mis-assembled or has a bad component(s).

can you swap them back to verify operation? this will also give you the opportunity to check for pinched wires and the like.

So, It means that this mbo. is working before the swapped. You just installed the complete screen assembly and the keyboard. Am I right? thats my problem, sometimes a basic english is hard for me to understand, Sorry! I am not really good in english.

If that so, interestingfellow is right somewhere along the assembly line was not right.

    Interestingfellow:

I already tried this. i gave it back it's (i think not OEM but) former screen assy and the american keyboard. Nothing happened. i checked about 20 times for improper connetions and what else is checkable...

    ohlip:

the complete system was absolutely fine until i touched the screws.

the point is: i am really not double left handed ans espacially took care of any stuff falling inside, and for electrostatic influences as far as possible.

for me it seems just the power button is getting power, not even the bios so not even the MBO. are there some weird connections baout powering up the MBO running through the screen assembly or the keyboard?

I you have an spare external monitor you can check that If it is the LCD assembly by unpluging the the harness and then hook up the external LCD display and power it up. make sure no add on Ram on the unit. I do understand your position, just be patience.
