and no answers.. I'm gonna hope you ex spurts will remember when you were young at this. . .lol
I just got my CF-28 and will be a regular here as we come up to speed. I want to upgrade from CD to CD/DVD and have a drive on the way. Am I wrong in thinking that this will be a fairly simple swap? I saw Rick mention something about wire and solder, which I could handle, but I wondered.
I also have a wifi board on the way, but probably bought the exact wrong one, we will see. I would really like to swap key-boards, but wonder how to figure out if I have the necessary emissive power board installed. Last for now, how do I verify how much RAM is onboard, (I know that's really stupid. . .) My invoice said 512, but the specs said 256. I'm trying to figure all this out before the parts come, so I might have a better understanding when I go in there.
Thanks guys, and thanks for the site and the info I've gleaned so far!

I had actually read the info page, and still have questions, such as, "I would really like to swap key-boards, but wonder how to figure out if I have the necessary emissive power board installed?"

Look for a hole in the hinge cover
    left hand side
If you see a hole the sensor might be there
You need the sensor and additional parts for it to work
If you list your model # I can look it up and see if it was optioned that way from the factory
    Its quite a rare option
The ram is located under the battery ,so just look for the additional chip there
You might have 256mb on board and a 256mb additional

    Thanks Alex,
    The Mod # is CF28PTJGZDM
What I do know already is that the Floppy was swaped out for a CDROM and the 2000 was replaced with XP. I was asking about the Mem because the spec is 256 and the listing said 512. I thought you could check w/o going inside, but it doesn't really matter b/c I'm adding a wifi card this weekend and will see then.
    Thanks!
