Well, I did it. It was such an exciting, scary evening last night. I finally decided to make te switch from XP to Vista

So far everything is going better than expected that's for sure. My only real big problem is my wife accidently threw away my Office 07 box. I have the CD's thank god, but not the key code. I had everything in the plastic case except the book, and discs that came with it. I can't remember where the key # was, either on the box or on a piece of paper. I had loaded it last month when I upgraded my HDD. It says I only have 24 days to use it! I have no idea what to do? The help section was of course not that helpful for people that lost there key#.

My boot times went from 45 seconds to my Verizon running, to 82 seconds with Vista. I though itwas going to be alot worse than that.

Tom, I had to call Panny because when I put the CD in it didnt do anything. I didnt know I had to set the drive to boot up 1st. He pretty much walked me thru the 1st couple of steps in setting the HD up.

So far it's been pretty nice. I need to figure out how to turn off all those pop up windows for permission. I read how to do it awhile back but can;t remember where it was........

In regards to the key. I remember seeing somewhere (blog, forum, who knows) that there is either a program or a series of commands you can use to find out the key used to activate your version of Vista. You might check with Google or some of the IT people on this forum to help.

We can't discuss how to obtain keys on the forum... They/I will have to close the thread. You need to Google that.

I'm not seeking for a pirated key. Just wondering if there was a way to obtain mine back.

Only if you still have it intact on your hard drive
You formatted the xp to install vista
    Is this correct?

If the drive was wiped then everything is gone now so you will not be able to get your key back now :(

Yep! That they will do for sure. Same thing happened to me when a friend of mine bought office 07. His came with 3 licenses to use on different machines, but when I had to reformat, I didn't have the key any more. A quick call to M$ and they gave me a new key. Mine was a registered copy, and they did look it up, but it wasn't really a hassle at all.

Iceman, Not sure where yet, can't remember, but you should see a window that says fix or repair this operation, or device. From my short experience with Vista if you have a problem it will do a pretty good job at attemting to repair it itself.
