    Hi
this is a strange problem. installed windows 7 on a mk3 last night. all went weel, and i installed all the drivers to get things working.
after about an hour of looking at you tube, the sound just stopped! checked all the drivers, and even went to the extent of re-loading windows 7, but still no sound from any source
dose anyone have any ideas as to what may have caused this, and the solution?

What does Device Manager say? Have you checked to make sure that the audio is not muted in the system tray or in the Sound Applet in the Control Panel?

See my response on TBT... One other thing to add to that would be that I used to have a problem with the hotkey drivers where if I muted it via hotkey I couldn't unmute it until I went back into XP, then it worked. Could be a hotkey issue as well

Rob... That was my thought.... I have accidentlly hit a series of keystrokes (Fn+NumLock used to throw me) that will send you scrambling... Once you have typed every possible mis-stroke.... You get the idea.

Bob Newhart used to have a great comedy skit.... He said if you put 50 monkeys in a room with typewriters... Eventually, even through dumb luck and chance, they would eventually write all the great literary works.... As he pulls page off the typewriter of a monkey....

    hi,
nothing is muted in the sytem try or control panal. the device manager says all is working fine, these are the firsts things i checked.
have tried numerious amounts of key pressing, and there is no sound at all from the speak, it is as though the conntection has been broken.

there is one last thing i have not tried yet, and that is to use a set of head phones and see if there is sound through them.

i have also tried turnng off and on the concealment feature in the bios, this has not worked either.

    HOT KEY
should i uninstall and reinstall the hotkey drivers?

    Update;
ok, installed the hot key drivers again, but this did solve the issue. however, once the machine has booted, if you then flick the power key, to put computer to sleep, and then restart, the sounds are back omn.

so, with this in mind, any suggestions?

There is always the chance that your speaker has gone bad, or has become disconnected. Have you recently removed the RAM cover?

    Hi,
had though about speaker just ging bad, but then its a new machine, only 10hrs run time when i got it.
have not removed the ram cover myself, but was done before i bought to upgrade to 4gb.
as i said in previous post, the sound comes back, if you put the machine into sleep mode by flicking the poer key, that is what i can not seem to work out.

cheers for all the help, keep it coming.

    hi,
solved the problem. in short i installde hotkey app and settings drivers for running win7 on a mk1 cf-30, this has solved the issue.
when i installed win7 on my mk3, i only used the drivers from the panny web page, so i think you need to installa a few more as well

    hope that makes sense.
