I've skimmed through the threads and understand that I have a mk2 cf-29(cf-29 E on the bottom of the laptop), which is supposed to have 1.3 ghz processor(it does) and 256 mb integrated ram(BUT it has 512 mb listed atm). The extra ram slot is currently empty.

I am planning on getting a 1 GB ram stick for an extra speed boost, but I'm a little paranoid that I'm going to get the wrong ram for my laptop(I assume DDR for mine, correct?) I just need some extra input because of the fact I have 512 mb ram on the motherboard instead of the 256 that mk2's are supposed to have.

If anyone can help me and verify if DDR ram is what I should get, or maybe point me to a website selling what I'm looking for, it'd be GREATLY appreciated. I don't want to spend $40+ and get ram thats not compatible with my laptop :(

I don't know where you got the idea that Mk2 models only come with base 256MB RAM, but the base RAM amount is " Model-specific" - not " Mark-specific".

    My own CF-29 Mk2 ( CF-29EWPNZBM) has a base RAM of 512MB.

What is your system's complete Model Number?

You need a 1GB PC2700 DDR 200-pin SODIMM to "max out" your system's RAM capacity.

As to a recommended RAM supplier: Crucial Technology: Guaranteed-compatible memory upgrades for your for Panasonic Toughbook 29 Series Laptop/Notebook

Complete model number is CF-29ETPGZKM. I was under the impression of mark specific ram limitations because of the model breakdown section for the cf-29 on toughwiki.com, but I guess this relieves my doubts. Thanks for helping and also for the link, I think this about answers my questions. I'll be ordering some more ram in the near future

Pentium M 1.3GHz LV (Centrino), 13.3" Transmissive Touch XGA, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, WLAN 802.11b+g, Win XP
In the future, when wondering what a Toughbooks's original configeration is/was, refer to The Toughbook Configurator (up through the CF-30 Models: CF-31s are configured in a completely different manner :( ).

Do yourself a favor and come here for info. There seems to be a lot of mis-information on the wicki sites and the like.

Yeah... The wiki is all cut an paste... Some from here and some from the What I Know Is.... And then it turns out they DON'T know a lot.

Just like drivers... Don't buy disks (Unless they are true recovery disks), don't download from weird "driver" sites... Just follow the links in the stickies and get them from Panny for free.... And get the right ones! ;)

Makes sense, thanks everybody for the heads-up. It is a bit to wrap my mind around at first.
