I have Speedfan running on my 30, seems like my temps are running higher than normal. While sitting idle in my dock, no programs open, it stays up in the high 90's to low 100's. The ambient temp in my van is not over 65 or 70. This just seems high too me, or is this what other people are seeing?
Another thing I have started to develop is a very high pitched whine, or electrical noise coming from my display. The higher my brightness is the louder I can hear it. I can be sitting in my van with the car turned off and hear it very easily. It does not do it on battery power. I am very concerned that it might have something to do with my previous hot docking. Which of course is all new news to all of us.

those temps seem very high if they are Celsius.
Try to use a program called Hwmonitor and see if the temps remain the same. speed fan may not be working right with vista.
as far as the noise i would be very concerned with that. make sure it is not the speaker making the noise first by hitting alt F4 to mute the notebook. I can hear my notebook making noise when the speaker is on sometimes. (not my toughbook but another computer i use)

Try using HWMonitor Instead.

I'm sorry... But am I the only person who thinks "Speedfan" is a funny program to run on a Toughbook?
I run Everest 2006 and always see temps of 102F/113F/109F/104F all the time... Now if the temps you are speaking of are Celsius.... Then you need some ICE! -
What the heck, do I look like a canuck! Helllll, I am a Georgia boy, we know nothing but Ferrenhight!
My temps are right in line with yours Rick. Just curious, that's all. Gotta make sure my baby is all nice and happy.
Who can I give my CC to hold for me so I don't scratch that itch to get a new 30? I need another TB, but cant decide which way to go.
