Having now used the new toy for awhile I have one or two questions, first every now and then I get the following message:
'NVTL Phoenix MFC app has stopped working' then there is the usual windows will try to repair ect. There does not seem to be anything unusual about the way the TB is working, I tried searching but nothing matching so clearly nothing serious? Next up is explorer has closed for no apparent reason, the tab is always reopened and the TB continues as norm? Finally, the row of buttons at the front of the TB, the brightness 'up/down works fine, the keyboard/bullseye and lid flip when pressed all seem to get a response from the HDD light but nothing happens, the 'key' button brings up the task manager/lock menu ect, any ideas?
FWIW I have checked the device manager and there is no exclamation marks so all seems ok there, very often during the explorer issue (and for the first ten minutes of booting up) the HDD light is on solid as though the HD is working it's butt off? Machine boots/shuts down with no error messages ect. The machine came loaded with MS security essentials, perhaps it is running scans in the background? Unsure if that is the norm with Vista, perhaps I should bring forward my planned SSD and WIN 7?
EDIT: Looking at Robs problems with the hotkeys mine pale into insignificance, at least mine do not work consistantly![]()
Many thanks

NVTL = Novatel.

What application are you using for your WWAN connection? What version?

Thanks all, at least I am pretty certain once I replace the unit all will be OK.

Well an update to my 'a problem stopped IE from working' issue, you may re call the HD light was on, well I have attached a screen dump of the task manager. Today whilst looking for an image on Google the TB seemed to grind to a halt, the HD light was flashing furiosly along with the blue rotating 'busy' cursor. It was during this time I managed to get the task manager up to see if I could find out what was happening. The CPU would jump from 1% to 24% every few seconds or so and on the odd occasion 51%. I rebooted the TB and left it to idle with the same results, so my main question is the amount of memory shown on the green bar graph sits between 650 and 750, I am unsure if that is memory being used or memory available however, there is a part where it noters free memory is 33mb! I know I have to upgrade but do these figures seem right for a TB sitting at idle? I also checked that when the HD light is flashing for no apparent reason I check the security essentials and it show no scan running? When the HD starts flashing like a demented traffic light the while system from screen changes to button presses slows down big time.
Any ideas guys and girls?
Thanks for reading

You still have only 1gb memory? I'd say that's normal with Vista. I have a CF-T5 with 1gb memory and Windows 7. It normally has 700-800mb in use. If you are using IE8 or 9 why don't you try Google Chrome? I use Chrome almost exclusively.
If you plan to stay with Vista or upgrade to Windows 7 I'd add another 2gb of memory. -
Yep am going for the memory upgrade, in fact I have ordered 2 X 2gb sticks, I have been informed by the forum massive that I will at best only be able to use 3.25 - 3.50 but having two matched sticks I aim to do two things the first is to avoid any glitches with mismatched memory and the second to satisfy the curse of being a Virgo!
Whilst I use Google search after they got caught being naughty here in Spain with peoples data I just do not trust them. This is more to do with showing my disaproval and nothing to do with anything they might do with my data as I have nothing to hide anyway.
I still need an answer to my question though, is bat graph showing memory in use or memory available?
Thanks mucho

I don't use I.E. 'cause I want to look at what I want to look at. Plus it's a resource HOG. (no offense Azrial)
Oh, yeah, the logo is prettier. Versions available for XPP. A little hard to find. Chrome gets in the way on most searches.

Thanks for your input guys, Google used be a decent search however, even with my limited use of it I noticed the results were skewed towards larger companies who were paying, obviously this is business but you often end up being led to a page which is not even related to your original search parameters. I do not use search in IE because the problem is even more obvious. Anyway, I am not to worried, I have just found that each version of IE after '6' really has an impact on PC speed, of course my theory is people will just be forced to buy a faster machine or pay for upgrades, there is nothing new here, BTW any answer on the RAM bar graph?
