Hi all,
First of all I do not have any connection with this e-may seller just a VERY VERY happy customer!! The following seller has all CF-29 recovery disks for sale on E-bay for those who may want to restore your MK-1 to 5 CF-29's back to there OEM configurations.

Mark is the one I bought my Mk2 and Mk3 Recovery Disk sets from, and I have a set for my Mk5 enroute from him as we "speak." -

Thanks for the review guys. I was wondering about what exactly he was selling. I was thinking about ordering from him, but was a little unsure. In the specifications area it says the auction is for a CF-29 recovery "CD" not "CDs". I was a little unsure as I believe the 29 needs three recovery discs.
Hearing that you guys are satisfied, I now know it's the right product. -

Yes; it is the factory 3-disk CD set he sells.
USPS Track and Confirm shows that my Mk5 set will be here by the time you read this. -

got mine from him as well, got two mark III's going full guns with them, genuine panasonic, Driller

JFYI: Toughbook can provide these, as well (as I found out after-the-fact
).

You may want to consider keeping your business "in the neighborhood".
ps: Mr Postman just dropped my set in the mailbox! Gotta go and get the Mk5 "up and running!"

I received my MK4 disks on Friday and well my new TB is up and running just like the day it left the Panasonic factory. And for those who are still unsure these ARE 100% factory Panasonic recovery disks with all drivers and reference materials included. Make sure that you purchase the correct CD set for your Toughbook

So let me ask you how do u like the TB you got from that e-bay seller? I almost bought one from them but ended up getting a CF-29LT4GZBM "hazard location" unit for a way better price. The unit that I got appeared like it was never used out in the field but had over 21000 hours of run time per the BIOS.

Mine was $325: what did you have to give for yours?I chose to go with the Emissive Backlit Keyboard and the built-in AT&T HSDPA WWAN modem over a Touchscreen when selecting my Mk5. My unit also came with a new Media Bay Battery. SOooo: you gotta figure in the after-the-sale costs to add those options to your unit when figuring overall costs.
Also, by going with the 256Mb base RAM I was able to use the 2Gb DDR-2 SODIMM upgrade ( "Yes" it works, and is it FAST!
).

I had a small problem at the outset: the seller's technician had forgotten to remove the BIOS password and I had to wait until they could query him for it, then send me an e-mail with it.
Oh, BTW: my unit had only 4440 hrs. when received.

I paid $265.00 for it ( Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 PENTIUM M 1.6GHz WIFI LAPTOP - eBay (item 220597180430 end time May-03-10 12:00:32 PDT)) but without all of the other goodies that you got.. Oh well

Mark won't ship outside the USA.
Lame. -

TopCop1988 Toughbook Aficionado
Well, for one thing, the disk set he sells is for U.S.-distributed units and would not properly restore a non-U.S. machine (no separate choices for language, keyboard, etc.). -

blargh.blargh.blargh Notebook Consultant
Oddly enough, English is also used in countries outside of the US. -

I can ship a set outside the USA.... Also I believe you can go into control panel and choose whatever laguage you want. I would think the keyboards may not match on some models... But that can be remidied too.
If anyone is interested in Receovery disk sets on the CF-29 or CF-28... Please PM me. -

I glad you mentioned that, as I had never looked into it before. Here's what MickeySoft has to say:
Configuring and Using International Features of Windows
How To Change the language used to display menus and dialogs in MUI
Windows MUI makes it easy for users to change the user interface (menus and dialogs) into the language that best suits them. Up to 33 different languages can be installed on the machine by an administrator (any user with administrative privileges) using the muisetup.exe program.
Users select any one of the installed user interface languages* by opening Control Panel in Regional Options and:
In Windows 2000 MUI - On the General tab, choose one of the languages displayed in the 'Menus and dialogs' control.
In Windows XP MUI - On the Languages tab, choose one of the languages displayed in the 'Language used in menus and dialogs' control.
Changing the user interface language has the effect of displaying menus, dialogs and Help files in the specified language. Changes to the user interface language only become effective after logging off and logging on again. -

Be sure to wait for a reply from Toughbook, as he might also have what you need. (No reflection on Mark: just looking to keep it "in the family."
 )

I can't find out how to PM either, could be the 15 post thing. Toughbook, I would be interested in recovery cds for MK5 CF-29, depending on price (already downloaded drivers from Panasonic, so discs would be a luxury, not a necessity).
Thanks,
Aerik

I wanted to buy a set of recovery CDs for my CF-29E. I'm assuming that would make it a MK2?? I can't PM so could you please email me. I set up the email preference so that users can send me messages.
My Toughbook is a CF-29ENKNXKM
