As you all know, I have the rugged TS2, which has been replaced twice (thank god for warranties!). I originally started off with a Yellow one and now Panny sent me back a Blue one (which I like better actually).

Anyways, the TS3 is out now! I can't really see why the TS3 is better than the TS2 other than 40 feet waterproof vs 30 feet, 30 feet which I will NEVER go that deep anyways! (15 feet makes my ears hurt a LOT while snorkeling). The TS2 is actually 2MP higher too...

And it's available in ORANGE... My wife HATES her orange Olympus tough camera (problems with batteries and is TERRIBLE in low light scenarios (Also orange in color)... I thought I'd get her this one (Dare I let her have something better than me?? :D :p )

    I found it here for $280: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 12.1 Megapixel/4.6x Wide-Angle/1080p (Orange)

I like it, besides the color.

My wife just picked up the Panasonic Lumix FH25 for $150 at Sears and she loves it. She said it was the best digital camera she has owned yet.

As a Tried and True "Toughbook'er" ;), I'd go for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 12.1 Megapixel/4.6x Wide-Angle/1080p in Silver, then make up a TOUGHBOOK label, using silver Dymo label tape and cover the Lumix name. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong....does this take a special battery? That's o.k. if you live in town but I like my little Canon with Duracell AA. And I'll use rechargeable AA when they're not in the back of a clock or something.
That orange is about the ugliest thing I've seen since......ummmm......forget it it's ugly.
I see some negative comments about the color being soft. Also mediocre in shadows.
Things can be changed...I call my daughter and she walks me through messing with white balance. She shoots in RAW mode and stuff and her camera would just about pay off my truck.
It's always better for the frau to have something cooler then you. You can always borrow it.

Jeff...I bought my wife a Browning T-bolt .22lr as an engagement present back in the day. Made more sense then a ring. D)

Yes; it takes the Panasonic DMW-BCF10 ID Secured Battery for select LUMIX® Digital Cameras .

Then go with it in "Toughbook Silver" ;)

Yes, normal batteries are FAR better than AA's... especially on such a high profile camera. Jeff, I understand your predicament, so for you, AA's MIGHT be better... But then again, I have 2 batteries for mine. The way you charge them is through an external battery charger.

The first time, it got water in it somehow... No idea how.

The 2nd time I was trying to prove a point on how tough it was and I smacked it against my PDRC VDL01 screen in my truck right on the corner of it... Twice... It put two nice cracks in the screen... :(

I am done proving points as it only leads to death and destruction :(

After the 2nd one I got back (I sent them a yellow one and they sent me a blue one back and I actually like the blue one better :D ), I took it with my on my honeymoon and it was in the water more than not and it performed PERFECTLY! Just supurb! :)
