I'm gonna bring my mini propane heater with a few extra tanks, my portable stove to make some noodles, my portable generator, 225' of power cords, my toughbook, tons of water, my coffee maker, a 1 pound bag of coffee, portable toilette and wait in line all night to get a tv and some other things on Black Friday!!

Yes!!...You think I'm... kidding? I'm 100% serious! The best part is this: I already own ALL of these things and won't need to buy anything to be this crazy!

Any ideas or things I should bring that I missed? I will leave the gen set in my truck parked about 200' away as to not off people with the noise and the gas fumes...

If anyone is around the Lombard/Downers Grove area and wants to join me too, you are welcome to come!!!

Since you're in a suburb of Chicago, don't forget the 17 required city permits for such an encampment (or alternatively a small bribe, oops - contribution, to the "Rahm Emanual for Mayor" campaign fund)

I understand, sir, that you plan to venture forth into the Black Friday melee armed and armored; this no man could deny.

But precisely what sir, is thy prize? What jewel doth drive you to such lengths?

I think you need more coffee. And if not more dollars at least more sense oops cents. :D

Have fun Rob, sounds like a warm-up to Super Bowl. Stay OFF the toughbook.

I'm simply looking for an adventure... and yes, I do wanna show off my Toughbook... I use my stuff almost every day, so that doesn't matter to me... Just another day lol (well not the camp stove or anything).

As it turns out, I got approved for $3000 financing from ABT electronics and I talked to a sales manager there and he said he'd do the SAME price on the TV I want the Wednesday BEFORE Thanksgiving so I don't have to wait in line... However, my future father in law wants to wait in line at Target to get that 40" 1080P Westinghouse for $300 on Black Friday and I volunteered to come to add to the madness and fun... Looks like I can't win lol... errrrr, can win :D

Get a G10 if you can find one 5,000,000:1 native contrast against 2,000,000:1 for the U2. Also has the "KURO" technology Panasonic got from Pioneer and real THX profiles.

That's a crazy deal Rob ! I bought my 52" LCD almost 3 years ago for $1900 on boxing day... And now that Canadian dollar is par with US $ going to be some Canadians contributing to US economy for sure !

We have "Boxing day" is Canadian version of your black friday, but ours is day after Christmas so we can return the dreaded fruit cake if we can find the store it came from ;)

There's a website that lists early releases of many of the Black Friday ads. According to them, most of the major players are also offering their Black Friday specials on-line beginning 2AM Thursday. So.....wake up early and shop from home or camp out in the cold -- your choice. Here's the link:
Black Friday Ads for Black Friday 2010 and Black Friday Deals!
    Happy shopping!

I was just in Abt picking up a LED set for my folks. They got a Sony. My TV repair guy here in San Diego tells me from his perspective the best sets are Samsung, followed by Sharp.

Kardon, yes, MANY sites like this... I've personally been using bfads.net for the last 6+ years with GOOD luck with them :).

Personally, I SAVE the important ones ASAP (I get email alerts from them too) because of lawsuits where they have to take them down (mostly from the @$$holes of walmart)

We repaired / refurbished hundreds of Samsung lasers and LCD monitors last year and found they were built about as cheaply as humanly possible, I would not recommend their printers or lcd monitors after repairing / seeing many from the inside out.

They really don't build them like they used to... anyone remember the HP laserjet 2, 3, etc... now those were heavy duty printers. They are built to be disposable now, not too good the environment that's for sure.
