Hate the watch but the flexible LCD display looks interesting.

I see only superficial styling here, not genuine good design... the most obvious example of what I mean is the 90-degrees-from-optimal rotation of the display. Fixing that would mean reducing display size by 2/3 or rotating digits to read downwards. Both solutions would detract from its visual appeal.
No way I can see to make it water resistant while retaining the ability to replace a cell. Even rechargeables die eventually.
The slightest damage to such a thin assembly will certainly destroy its appearance and probably prevent dismantling. If it can't be repaired it's an expensive disposable.
Too easy to copy. If it were to become fashionable the cheap clones could hit the streets before the first wave of sales was over.
    Just my £0.0126.

I read the article, and they say it's designed for 15yrs of use from the micro-energy cell (supporting 10k charges), and a full charge (10min) is good for 1 month.
so no need to replace the battery, before you get bored by it, or gets scratched enough, etc.
they also say the try to make it as waterproof as possible.
what I'm not so sure about are the charging contacts that will be in permanent contact with the skin, and that could mean a lot of sweat in high temperatures.

I wouldn't pay $130 for a watch that can be so easily grabbed from your wirst, though. Maybe somwhere around $50...

The screen is nice, crispt, looks very good. If you don't mind the flashing when the time is updated (every minute).

The rotation of the screen is an acceptable compromise, IMO. Their goal was the thinnest watch, and a band that'be twice as wide, wouldn't work very well.
Of course, they could use vertical digits, keeping the same dimensions.

That will be the retail price from an authorised reseller....give it a couple of months & the Chinese clone will be $4.99 shipped....the clone Rolex will still be $50.00 in Bharain or $250.00 in the U.K. :D

I've been the beneficiary of said generosity enough to STILL be amazed... I would NEVER make such a frivolous request, even as a joke. ;)

That watch would last a week on my wrist; I am THE WATCH-KILLER. I went through A Timex iRONMAN every 6 months (Back before they got bought out by the Chinese factory in ShenZhen that used to produce for them); the good one with a mineral glass lens. Since then, it's only been Fossil Blue Diver's watches in Stainless Steel; they'll last between 6 months and a year before they either die or look like they spent a night rolling around in a rock tumbler and can't see through the lens anymore.

Nice Polex watch you got there, dewed. :p

I've worn my Rolex (same as pictured) every day since I bought it back in 1998. At the time I was well paid with stock options. (Jeez I wish I still had the keys to THAT "WAY BACK" machine!) I bought it one day after cashing some stock out and, as I said... Every day it is on my wrist.

I have thought I destroyed it many times over. I have smacked the crystal straight onto doornobs, concrete porches, steel railings, etc... Every time I look down with a grimace as I thought I destroyed it. Nope.. Not even a scratch... On the crystal anyway.

I buff it out once every 6 months or so... It needs to be overhauled but I really don't want to pay the $450 to have it done...

Any watchmakers need a Toughbook in exchange for an overhaul?

    Thanks for the compliment. :p

I don't know about $4.99; there's etched stainless steel plus e-ink display & micro-lipo rechargeable technology involved. All are pretty expensive manufacturing processes for now, as they are relatively complex and/or new technologies. I wouldn't be surprised, though, to see a 1mm or 2mm thick clone version made with rolled stainless sheet and a CR2016 battery offered for $29.99, then $19.99 at Christmas on TMart.com.

This is a much more interesting project: GravityLight: lighting for developing countries. | Indiegogo
As for the Rolex, I was given mine in 1987, it still keeps perfect time(defined in chronometer world as having a consistent repeatable error, not always right), and has never been in for service, I couldn't afford a tune up.
