Just a quick heads-up; NewEgg has SeaGate's 320GB 2.5" external HDD for $39.99 with free shipping (Of course) using their E-Blast Promo code # EMCJKJF38, good through 10/20/11.

    Newegg.com - Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 320GB 2.5" Ultra-portable Hard Drive

It's got a 320GB HDD in a plastic enclosure like you'd expect; but the thing I like is that the USB-SATA controller is incorporated into the USB Dongle, and it has a standard 2.5" SATA header that plugs directly into the HDD. This means you not only get a cheap (for retail) price on a name-brand 320GB HDD, you also get the USB dongle which should work on ANY bare 2.5" SATA HDD as well. You can either use the thing as is, or strip the HDD out for your laptop, you decide.

A couple caveats: The dongle is only USB 2.0; the box sez upgradeable to USB 3.0, but that's only by replacing the dongle (Probably why they're discounting this model). Also, in order to use the E-Blast codes, you need to do a free eMail registration that of course signs you up for their E-Blast specials. If you have a Spam-catcher eMail acct, no big deal. Otherwise, this deal may not be for you.

I have one of the 500GB models with both USB 2.0 and 3.0. I use it as an external backup drive on my desktop. I have had no problems with it in close to a year. This is one heck of a price.
