I know I haven't been around much; had a serious infestation of "real life" lately, and been working hArd to catch up on some bills. Add to that I've been off-duty for over a week with an injured eyeball, which is healing, but slowly. You'd be amazed how that tends to put a damper on one's inclination to surf-potato.

I figured I should stop by & say Hi ( "Hi!" ), and I have a sad story I felt a need to share...

WARNING: This is not a joke, it happened to me this morning. Don't click the link unless you are ready for a true, sad story.

Good to know you are still among the living :)

Your sad story looks like venison on the hoof to me :p Certainly when I lived and worked in Austin there were waaaay too damn many of those things around. I had to schedule some of my clients before dusk, because after dusk their neighborhoods were dangerous to drive in due to the venison. Idiot people fed them and they were totally humanized. Nothing better than venison summer sausage and a nice aged cheddar ;9 I hope you didn't hurt your truck on the silly thing.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's just a deer... but you know, I've had a fair amount of close quarters contact with Death lately; so maybe life is just a bit more dear to me than usual. Besides; prey animal or not, it is a beautiful thing... or it was, until I got involved. I can't help feeling a bit sorry that it's gone, especially when I had a part in its end.

If I'm honest with myself, I have to admit there was a part of me that knew this would be the likely outcome when I dialed the phone; that there was a very slim chance of it being sent to one of the several wildlife sanctuaries nearby where it might have at least had a chance at being whatever a deer is meant to be. And right now, that's a lot more important to me than a pot of stew.

While I understand "all a deer can be" involves being hunted, 'Taint exactly sporting, if ya know what I mean.
