    Hi,

The HDD of my Toughbook crashed, so I replaced it with an 128GB SSD (TS128GPSD320). While Installing Windows, only 7.8GB showed up. Same for Linux. I could install Windows on a 7.8 GB partition.

Later i attached the drive to another PC and saw the full 128GBs. I resized the partition and plugged the drive back. Bluescreen: unmountable boot volume. Ridiculous as it reads some files from it before showing that screen. I will now shrink the partition again.

Can anybody give me a hint, how to access the full capacity?

    Update the BIOS
repartition it in linux then try to install windows on the partitioned drive.
I have seen several stubborn drives that windoze would not partition correctly.
    Make sure it is NTFS.

What version of Windows? Fresh Install? Can you access any partition info? SSD drives have different structure.... Did you try to migrate using something like Paragon or others? More info please........

Windows XP SP2 while installing, now SP3. Linux showed the same amount of available space. Bios ist the latest version aus far as I can judge: 300L13
Didn't try to migrate. Windows Disk Management shows a full disk with the 7.8 Gigs. No free space for partitioning.

Changing the partition size back worked. But I had to delete all other partitions i created for testing, as soon as anything was outside the 7.8GBs Space, Windows refused to boot.
I googled a bit for the "unmountable boot volume" Bluescreen. In one thread sombody mentioned something about trying to access a 80 pin IDE DIsk over a 40 pin cable. I dont know much about the interface. may that be the case?

Upside of this is: My SSD will last forever

    Hmmm....me smells a RAT.

You may want to consider requesting an RMA ....the information I looked at last week on the new Transcend drives is no longer on their web site, OR, any other links relating to Pata SSD's....look's like they have been withdrawn.
