I have been fooling around with OziExplorer for a few weeks, I've loaded the entire state in USGS DRG maps, and have been using it heavily. I have to say it's an awesome combination if you can get your hands on the DRG maps with the associated tfw and fgd files (Ozi can automatically calibrate the maps if your have these additional files) .... When the stock GPS breaks lock it doesn't crash (so far everything else has including iGudance when in tracking mode) I have to say two thumbs up. I spend alot of time in odd places all over NM and Arizona and it's been perfect. It's not a "navigator" package but it's a darned cool mapping system. I understand it's big with maritime navigators as well. You have to provide your own charts and maps, but I've seen people even convert pdf maps to use with OziExplorer. I am going to start scanning some DeLorme maps soon if I can talk my lady into using her company scanner (a business graphics company). It's so easy to calibrate any kind of map too based either on lat/long or by UTM...
I realize the gps stuff may bore some people but I guess alot of us also use these machines where we need GPS and the ability to map and track is part of our daily lives.

I believe I can help you locate the NM drgs... I'd be interested in obtaining Idaho, UT, Co, Montana, and Wyoming as well. Just remember it's quite a chore to calibrate them without the accompanying tfw/fgd files...

Term... I haven't read a lot on the subject... But is OxiExplorer free? Is there any good freeware topo type GPS mapping packages?
