    * Does the CF-U1's hdd is rare and hard to find in the market ? Need any additional cable or caddy ?

    * Anyone in this forum has CF-U1's keyboards or hdd for sale ?

Welcome to the Toughbook forum....I will have to check my service manual to see if it uses a caddy but I just checked ebay for keyboards but nothing so if you can't find them used then they are going to cost you big bucks to buy new from Heartlands.

I don't have a service manual for the U1 but maybe later on someone who has one might be able to help you out. I had a good look on ebay and really there is not much on the U1 so that is not a good sign...hope they have batteries because they will set you back about $125.00, SSD kit only $443.43  ...hate to know what a keyboard would cost...hope you got them dirt cheap . I think we only have a couple members that have them but check back late on . Good luck.

I have one but since it has GPS I haven't had a need to pop it open yet. I have yet to see any parts for sale on ebay regularly. Just a odd part here and there.

I have some helpful info here because U1's are a PAIN to work on.

    1) Yes, the HDD and caddy ARE proprietary.

    2) Not only will you need the keyboards, but you will also need the ribbon cable to attach it, the metal plate that holds it down, the little black screws and the sticker that goes over it all.

Honest to God it will cost over $600 for all those parts per unit. I think the keyboard alone is over $300 in and of it's self! I can get you complete units for less than that. I can't send you a PM because you're newer, but if you could email me [email protected] I can get you more information!

    Thanks
