The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Panasonic - FN key popup software - available for debian too?

    For windows there is software, when the FN key is pressed, a popup comes displaying what F key is mapped to which function.

    Is the same available for debian?

    Have not heard of any Panasonic support for any OS other than Windows.

    Not sure if this is what you mean, but with Linux Mint 19 Fn+F1 and F2 control screen brightness (and display appropriate popup). I don't have an external display setup to check Fn+F3. Fn+F4-6 keys control volume, (and also display popups). F7 & F10 suspend to RAM and disk respectively, F9 shows popup with battery charge info, and F12 controls keyboard backlight (without popup).

    Nothing special was installed. These just worked "out of the box". Not sure if it is a driver that was installed automatically, or maybe part of Gnome Desktop.

    EDIT: In case you were wondering, Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian

    Depends on the window manager. I think it's handled by notify-osd or xfce4-notifyd for xfce4. I'm running Debian LXDE with Openbox on a CF-31 and I do not have volume or brightness OSDs either. I'll also post things I do in t his thread.

    @kolto Which desktop manager are you using? I managed to kludge a brightness OSD by using xfce4-notifyd although I am running LXDE/Openbox. I don't really need the OSDs but I was curious.
