    Hi,
I am new to this forum i thought i put this question out, i have a older CF 71 Pentium 2 i would still like to use. Is it possible to swap the 10g original hard drive and what is the biggest size of drive my system will recognize? The caddy enclosure seems a little hard to open. Your replies would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks :)

As I rememnber I put 120gb IDE type and it recognized by the system. That was three years ago. But it will help if you place a harddrive with 5,400rpm or 7,200rpm.

Don't go with a more than 137GB because the 16 bit nature of that old P2 won't recognize more than 137GB... Being that it goes in increments of 120GB, 160GB, 200GB etc... You would have to go with 120GB otherwise if you get a 160, you'll get more but it would still waste your money.

    Make seance? :)

I've tested a CF-71 Mk2 (13" screen) and the biggest size you can use is 128Gig. This due to a limitation in the Phoenix Bios. It will accept a 160Gb disk, but you will only be able to use 128Gb.

Just find the cheapest drive. Here a 160gig is often cheaper than a 120gig... They are almost cheaper than most second hand 40Gig disks!...

Yep, XP works okay but a little slow. Win FLP works even better, but has some nasty restrictions. It does not run Outlook 2003 and has no Dailup support. Windows 2000 runs perfect....

The CF-71 PII came in 266MHZ, 300MHZ, 366MHZ one of the nice things about these is that they used a mini cartridge CPU which could be easily upgraded up to 400MHZ by just swapping the cartridge.
