Hello, I just have the CF W2 for sentimental value but recently I have this problem, when I turn on it with the power supply works OK but if I disconnects the power supply and with the battery charged at 100% the display turns off and the power led stays on. When I make the same test in safe mode everything work OK . I already change batteries go to bios install a new copy of windows etc but with no results. Any help appreciated.

Thanks and sorry for my English

have a look into ur power/energy management setttings of ur OS. There u can set ur display brightness separate for external power source and battery.

Already try that with no results. If I turn on the W2 with batteries only it turns off the display in about one to two minutes. If I turn on in safe mode with battery it works OK.

    Thanks

No, right now is factory restore Win XP. I already try with and with out Service Pack 3. The strange is that it works perfect in safe mode. All drivers are there etc. I search Google for a similar problem but no results.

    I appreciate your help

Is the blank out happening the same time when your screen saver is timed to turn on?

Try booting from a "live" Linux CD and see whether you observe the same behaviour...

I already try a battery calibration and installing a fresh copy of windows 7 but with no results. Right now I don't have a Linux CD at hand but I am going to download and give it a try.

    Thanks

Can u change the screen brightness in all steps? And could u please try to use a torch close on the screen, if u see any shadows of the picture right after the screen goes blank? I suppose in every of this cases an bad CCFL or inverter, which can not handle lower voltage during the dimming time

Yes I can change the screen brightness in all steps, the screen is completely turn off with no shadows. Please remember that it works perfect in safe mode and I can adjust the brightness in normal mode and in safe mode.

    Thanks for your help

OK I found the problem, somehow the video driver from the recovery disc was corrupt. I install the driver from Panasonic site and now is working ok.

Thanks to all for your help
