Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum

Stick around for a while and someone will be able to help you. Are you using W7 32bit or 64bit?

First of all, remove the door on the bottom and make sure it has a 3g card, or any wlan card for that matter.

    A search found this post:

    Located here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/mobilink-not-working-on-cf-19-with-windows-7.453495/

I've got this cracked now, but unfortunately it was my own stupidity that was getting in the way of it working, and eventually I didn't need the official Panasonic drivers at all (The Panasonic XP - possibly Vista - drivers rolled back mid installation. Which if you are interested can be corrected by using the following guide IBM - Disable Microsoft Installer (MSI) rollback during TSM Client installation)

I found a link on the oqotalk.net forum - Windows 7 Novatel Mobilink software WORKING - which links to Downloads: Novatel Wireless Merlin™ XU870 3G 7.2 ExpressCard/34 - HSDPA/UTMS . I installed the Windows Vista MobiLink Connection Manager & Driver Installer and shut down my computer. I then installed the SIM card and started the computer and all worked well, the SIM card was recognised!

I think the most important step is shutting down your computer completely (i.e. not just restarting) and then inserting the SIM card with the power off. I tried all sorts before finding this, including switching the WWAN off with the wireless switch utility and simply rebooting.

For those of you that have dedicated data SIMs that you leave in the computer this probably won't be a problem. Unfortunately, my data and voice SIM are the same, so I was hoping I'd be able to pop it out of the phone when needed and straight in the CF-19. I still can, it just takes a bit longer than I originally hoped, to shut down and start-up again.

    from Novatel site

    Windows Notes
    Microsoft Windows Compatibility

ALL Novatel Wireless ExpressCard/34 devices and Ovation USB devices are compatible with

    • Window 7 (32 and 64 bit)
    • Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit versions)
    • Windows XP (32 and 64 bit versions)
    • Windows 2000
7xx and 8xx Novatel Wireless PC Card devices are compatible with

    • Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit versions)
    • Windows XP (32 bit and 64 bit versions)
    • Windows 2000
5xx and 6xx Novatel Wireless PC Card devices are compatiable with

    • Windows XP - 32 bit (U630 only - Vista and XP - 32 bit version only)
    • Windows 2000
Windows Mobile and Windows CE are not supported

    Windows Beta 7 not supported.

Driver Installers are build into Connection Manager installer programs.

    Connection Managers

Most customer will manage their wireless network connection with a connection manager recommended by the service provider that the modem has been configured. Service providers will supply a custom Connection Manager or a custom configuration of Novatel Wireless MobiLink or MobiLink-Lite Connection Manager. Please contact your service provider to get their approved connection manager.

Most Ovation USB Devices (exception MCD3000, U720, USB720) and newer ExpressCard/34 Devices

    • These devices are pre-loaded with Windows installation files preloaded in the device. When device is plugged into the computer, it should be discovered as a Mass Storage device and user should be prompted to allow an auto-installer file run.
Older Devices will have the installation program provided on a CD supplied with the modem or download able from the service provider.

    Dialup Network Connection

For customers that do not wish to (or can not) use the pre-configured connection manager, they may download a driver only installer and then use the built-in network connection manager.
