Downloaded DriverMax and ran it. DM downloaded 'updated' driver for my Sigma Tel Audio sound card in the CF-30. SigmaTel is now or used to be IDT High Def CODEC.
Anyway, no sound. Control panel shows no sound card installed. This seems to be a problem that many others have experienced. Download 'updated' driver and sound goes away.
Running XP Pro.
I have searched and can't find a proper driver for Sigma Tel Audio in Panasonic CF-30.
Any help out there?
Thanks!
Mark

I don't know that specific machine, but many of the newer 'High Definition' audio systems require both a chipset driver and a Microsoft HD audio driver.
You may be missing that part of the setup?
Also, some sound chipsets are mis-identified by some of the auto updater tools (including Windows update), it could be worth removing any sound drivers and starting from scratch with the Panasonic ones.
You could try a System Restore to a point a few days ago, when the original driver was installed? That may be an easy fix. -
Yeah... Driver Agent, DriverMax and sites like that just take you to the manufacturer anyway... Some of the Toughbook drivers MUST be obtained from a Toughbook site and can't be obtained from independent sites as you must log into the site to download... You can't rely on websites other than Panasonic.

From www. Panasonic.ca:
There are 3 sound drivers listed.
1. MS HD Audio update: q888111_d050984.exe
2. Analog Devices Inc.SoundMAX Audio Driver: sound-5_10_1_6500logo-1930-
33-xpxp-d081178d081278.exe
3. MS Update Module (q888111) for CF-30CTQAZBM "Needed to use HD Audio Driver with XP SP2"
These are the only sound drivers listed for the CF-30 & XP, #3 is the only one model specific.
Panasonic.ca does not require any log in to use so its just a little easier to use than the US site.
I don't know why these are not manufacturer"s drivers, but this is probably the reason you have no sound.

Cap'n Dogfish,
Went to the Canadian Panasonic site, very quickly found the driver download page for the CF30. Much nicer site than the USA version. (USA wanted me to register and provide a bunch of info I didn't have.)
Checking all the drivers listed, I found I needed to install two other drivers before installing the Sigma Tel audio driver. I did that and restarted the computer. Installed the Sigma Tel driver and restarted again.
I now have sound!
Many thanks!
I remain,
