Hey guys,
I have to CF-52. One is with a WWAN-Card and one without. I want to chance the WWAN-card to the other CF-52 without the card. After hardware chance I can't find the WWAN Option in Bios. I tried to chance the switch on the slot but nothing happen. Is there any secret options to activate the WWAN?
Thanks

You can't swap wwan
It's a special item written in the bios on these new models that force you to have the dealer upgrade/swap -
Is it possipy to chance this via a Bios update?
The dealer want 450$ to do this. For the WWAN-card I pay only 40$ -
Many manufacturers lock the bios, IBM have been doing this for years to force you to use their parts
Pansonic has taken a different route , forums like this where information is shared freely may have an effect their service dept bottom line , it is actually not true as we help parts sales on the older ,considered obsolete Toughbooks
Wwan upgrades are off-limits to the end user
I contacted one of the experts here on the forum a while ago that specializes in bios mod's on Acers
He could not help as each bios brand is different , (I was thinking about tweaks like fan speed control on the buisiness class )
The same pin mod used for the mpci-e wi-fi card might work

I don't have the time to look but there is a thread on this somewere as well -
Hello and sorry for jumping in here
I am in a similar situation (wanting to add WWAN to 2 CF-52s).
Are all CF-52s that didn't ship from factory Bios-locked or just certain moddels?
I know that the mk1 and mk2 series have the GOBI-1000 interface and the mk3 already has the new GOBI-2000 (no Dip-Switches).
all my CF-52s are mk2 - so it would be good to know if it is doable before I go hunting for some MC-5725 (kind of hard to get here in europe)

P.S. please correct me if I am wrong up there somwewhere as I am new and all info is from what I read up in half a day....
