I have a CF-C2CCEZXCM, which doesn't have serial port. I want it to have a serial port, and the usb to serial port doesn't work for me. I see a hole for the serial port at the back of the laptop, so I took away a cover and find a pcb (WWAN-CRT-PCB and DFUP2289ZCPbF), so I am thinking buying another pcb with the serial port, but I don't know how I should search it; is it possible? could anyone tell me the part # of the pcb I need to buy?
Thank you very much for your answers.

Get on the ToughBook forum here or on ToughBook talk and enquire about your desire. And someone knowledgeable there should assist you. These folks are super helpful!

Thank you Charles! Thank you Shawn for the part no... but If it is only installed by Panasonic, then I'll need another option... thank you BaRRmaley for the link, I already read it, but didn't think I would need a special code...

Probably it should be in another post, but, do you think I can use an express card with a serial port? And most important, any express card will work?

Thank you for your time and your help :)

Probably do not need a code for a serial port.
Finding the part will be difficult. It is a factory only install item. They may not sell that kit separately.
You may find a used one on ebay. But I bet you would wait quite a while before one comes up for sale. There are not many C2 parts showing up.

What is the serial device you need to connect?
Expresscards don't have much power. Any device connected via expresscaerd must be low power or else bad things happen.

I found that Heartland Services, and she tells me this:
But I don't understand: do I need to buy both products? What is a retrofit? How does it works?

My advice (IMHO, of course) is to buy used $50 CF-18 for that COM task only :)))
I don't like an idea to feed those dealers :)

    CF-WSRC22 (description: SERIAL PORT RETROFIT KIT C2MK2) @ $61.95
The kit contains everything you need. PCB, cables, screws, any cover, etc.

    DL3UP2284ABA (description: WWAN - SERIAL PWB UNIT) @ $51.68
This is just the board. No screws, No covers, No cable. This board is included in the kit.

Retrofit just means you are installing an option on your own used equipment.

Have you ever disassembled a Toughbook before? Any laptop repair before?

I have not disassembled a Toughbook before, but I have disassembled a laptop.
So my best choice would be the CF-WSRC22, for the cables and everything else.

Thank yhou Shawn for your patience.

Take your time and take photos as you go.
We don't have a service manual copy for the C2.

I had had CF-F8,F9 and CF-C1's apart, they are a bugger to disassemble if you have never tried it. I'm willing to bet the CF-C2 is the same. A lot of parts stuffed into a very thin case.

I don't think it will be hard. It has a small cover which I already took away and there is the PCB that has to be changed. Actually I already took away the PCB, thas why I have the part #
    Wish me luck :p
