    Hi,
I'm going to buy new F9 but not sure about its screen quality. How good is it compared to mediocre one in Thinkpad T410? Are contrast and viewing angles better on panasonic?
    Thank you in advance!

I would think it being a new model that the specs would be readily available for comparison between models....

And what's general opinion on previous models? Is it normal for a tougjbook to have a mediocre screen?

    It's a TOUGHbook, not an cad- or dtp-workstation ;-)

U have to try urself, if the screen will fit ur needs.

    Maratus -

What you're asking us for is something we simply cannot deliver; you want us to tell you how the screen will look in a subjective comparison. As stated, that comparison is SUBJECTIVE; our opinion (even if we were looking at the two models side by side right next to you) might very well differ from yours.

If you're an advertising designer who needs absolutely accurate color reproduction and you work indoors under controlled lighting conditions, you may not like the color of the screens on the Toughbooks or the brightness.

If you're a sports columnist who uses their laptop outdoors a lot in direct sunlight, you might prefer the fact that the Toughbook High Bright Screen option looks crisp and clear and not washed out in the daylight.

Almost every model of Toughbook has a half dozen or MORE LCD options to choose from; we can't tell you what YOU are going to think of them when you see them.

    Bananas :p

But seriously, what could be helpful is the screens viewing angle. So for anyone with a toughbook if you can take a picture of any screen head on, and then tilt the screen back and forward and take a picture of each position. And do the same for left and right.

Or if anyone knows: what type of LCD panel do they use.

But you guys did get me completely wrong. I asked about viewing angles and that isn't subjective. Contrast and brightness aren't either.

Have you ever seen that low quality screen in 14 lenovo T series? Being dull and with extremely low contrast (black is gray) and nonexistent viewing angles it's pretty much on par with the worst screens I've ever seen.

I'm very scared that Panasonic may use the same crappy panels. I won't do serious photo editing and just want it to be at least better than average.

I want a reliable laptop and panasonic looks like an ideal choice. But I'm scared to spend this kind of money without trying it's screen.

I didn't want to insult its owners but I'd really like too hear ANY KIND of comparison. I do know nothing about it since I've never seen ANY panasonic laptop in person.

And can you give me a link to a panasonic configurator?

well viewing angles on the CD-29, CF-30, and CF-19 are a boatload better than I have seen on most consumer laptops including the sony TT and all the crapbooks I own, can we say no glareomatic either.

but like we said its all subjective, as well and depends on the individual user.

besides whats the obsession with viewing angles?? 99.75% of us sit infront of our laptops, and of that I bet 75% of us dont really want the guy beside us reading our screen

for me I want brightness and readability on most machines, and color reporduction on 1 of my laptops and a desktop

Well, I'm probably interested in whether f9 screen is known to be low quality or not. Just a subjective review.

And can somebody explain how to get to the configuration page on panasonic.jp?

In short, nothing on a Toughbook is low quality! Their reputation as the best laptops, based on number of units returned, warranty claims, etc has typically been the best in the industry. We are generally a rugged group, not necessarily tough, we tend to own the full rugged models. I own several, have owned a lot more, and have absolutely no interest or knowledge of the F9, but I do know that Panasonic doesn't make a range of different quality units, they make a range of different units for different user profiles. Dull makes a range of computers from junk to maybe not complete junk, but its all about price. With Toughbooks, price is one of the last considerations of their target market. F9 screen? Probably a good one.
