Well, the title pretty much sums it up. I'm looking for a signature Capture app that's compatible with the CF-28 Mk3 13" Touchscreen - I know the calibration program is almost there; if I had any programming kung-fu I could probably port it from that app, but alas, I'm a hardware guy.

So - does anyone know of a signature capture app (or better yet, an Adobe Acrobat Compatible plug-in) that is KNOWN TO WORK with the Toughbook Touchscreen? I've been searching the web & have tried about a half-dozen of the most common hits with no luck; I need someone else's kung-fu for this.

Check out Screen Grab Pro... It's a freeware app that allows you to capture anything or any part of the screen and save it in a number of formats. I've been using it for years!

I'm not sure if that is what you were looking for or not... But it's cool!

Don't you have the Panasonic Hand Writting utility? it is made just for that purpose using a stylus on the touchpad.

No idea what you're referring to. Will it accept input from the touchscreen as well as the touchpad?

    I'll Google it...

Hi.. yes, it's in modly.net's archives. It allows you to write on the screen and you could easily transfer that to any format...even something as basic as a screen capture pasted into windows paint.

I had considered doing the same thing with the Calibrate app & just capturing the entire screen with the PrintScreen button; but I saw one of the Gem sig capture pads attached to a laptop at a show; the demo had an Adobe doc (very similar to the Work Order docs I get from my online platform); they tapped a button on the Gem pad, it brought up a box on the screen overlaid on the document; the customer signs on the pad & it came up in the box, then the Gem Acrobat plug-in allows them to place the signature right into the electronic document exactly where they want it... then it adds digital signature information to that document. I found them online & tried every version of their plug-in - none seemed to like the output from my touchscreen. This is the kind of functionality I'd like to get from my ToughBook.

I'm not a lawyer but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that signatures made like that aren't binding. Don't know why though since retailers do something similar all of the time.

Well, I do know that e-signatures (based on a public-key identification) in Adobe PDFs are used all over the world and ARE Considered binding; this has been one of Adobe's big selling points in the e-document "revolution". According to the Gem sales pitch, they incorporate the same e-signature encoding as part of the e-document generation; if the document is altered, that e-signature shows as invalid.

All I currently submit is a .pdf or .jpg of the signed paper document generated from my flatbed scanner; so just how worried do you think my service buyers REALLY are about e-document security?
