Some questions, which are the best Panasonic ToughBook business tough models to consider in 14" and under screen sizes used? I love my CF-30 Mk II full rugged so much, that I want a business tough in my fleet. Would prefer Intel Core I processors and good used suggestions. My old ThinkPad died. Audio issues. And motherboard replacement.

Suggest looking into a CF-53
-
a '52 would be good except for the screen being dimmer than a p*** ant's flashlight ... one could always mod it .
i like my '31 ... led backlight .
what kind of service will the machine be used in ?
a '19 is portable enough and (shawn will correct me if i am wrong/or expand) certain models did have led backlighting .
there is nothing wrong with the various models of cpu used ... core duo / i3 / i5 , etc .
as far as i have ascertained , all of the cpu "upgrades" along the way have been just that ... better performance . -
It will be used mainly in indoor situations, rarely outdoors. Mainly babied more than a Full Rugged will be. Need reasonable performance and low weight. And a 8GB RAM limit. Basically a well built typical business class laptop with Panasonic build quality.

CF-53. The 53 will be cheaper then others but I think they are cheaply built also, have replaced several LCD's and it's really cheesy. Run good however.

I would go with a 53 too. I have had mine for 2+ years and bios shows 14,000 hours and its still running great

Dell XPS or Latitude

Low weight, 14" screen, i5 cpu..CF53 does meet those requirements.
They are not as strong or as heavy as a CF19, CF30/31 or even a CF52.
A CF52 has a 15" screen, A CF53 has a 14" screen, A CF19 has a 10.4" screen, and finally a CF31 has a 13.3" screen
A CF52 is my favorite daily driver. Screen is a bit dimmer than other Toughbooks, but not a huge issue for me. A CF52 does weigh a bit more than a CF53.
A CF53 weighs 5.8 pounds...A new 14" Thinkpad weighs from 2.6 to 4.0 pounds
A CF52 weighs 7.5 pounds...A new 15" Thinkpad weighs from 5.2 to 6.4 pounds
A CF30 weighs 8.4 pounds
A CF31 weighs 7.9 pounds
A CF19 weighs 5.1 pounds
PM me if interested.....I do have a CF19, a CF52, a CF53, and I will have a CF31 that I could sell.kode-niner likes this. -

I keep a CF-31 on my desk or for business trips, a CF-19 for fieldwork and on the arm of my chair in the lounge is my CF-W8 with Win10 and Classic Shell. I love it; perfect size, lightweight, ample performance and survives being repeatedly knocked onto the floor. I tried a CF-C1 but I prefer the 4:3 screen ratio of the W8 so the wife got the CF-C1. I had a CF-53 for a while but it was a bit too cumbersome.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the CF-W8 was the last non-fully rugged model with a 4:3 screen? -
-t8 too. but the last non fully ruggd with 4:3 is cf-r9 with the first gen i7.pierro78 likes this. -

Not sure if I'm going against the grain here, but I really like the F9. To me it feels sturdier than most other business rugged models. It's also comfortable and performs well. Are we doing shameless links? https://www.bobjohnson.com/toughbook-cf-f9-mk2/

Try to avoid 1st gen i5 cpu
And of course I don't like it's price at bobjohnson. USD 200 is ok. -
oh crap !
another one to add to my collection .
how bright is the screen on the F9 ?
if it is like a stock '52 ... no dice .
i sure don't see anything wrong with posting the occasional business related link .
a fair dinkum trade is in proffering a little technical help now and then .
i do not know what the TOS/SOP is as related to such things . -

Low performance, especially GPU. Lack of support for GPU (Intel *#*@#$...) for Win8 and newer.

and that's the way it goes ... and not just with toughbooks .
cars , pots and pans , doors on houses and more .
one can even apply the same premise to girlfriends ...

This issue got solved two ways. First was Lenovo ThinkPad T 410. Which has worked very well. Second is a CF-C1 with a second generation Intel Core i5 CPU which should be here in a few days, need to replace the hard drive as it is ex fleet. This nice condition CF-C1 cost me all of $46 Buy it now on eBay.

Thanks a lot Kent!!! I looked up the CF-C1 and, gee, as it turns out... I don't have one of those... YET!
I looked one up on ebay and for $80... Found a fairly complete one (minus HDD) in nice condition with only 1000 hours. At 2.5gHz, 4GB RAM and a W7 COA already attached... That is a great deal in my book. I'll buy it and load it and give it as a gift maybe... After I play around with it first of course! -
the C1 is not a bad little machine .
not as bounce-proof as its heavier brethren but still ok .
make sure that it comes with a caddy (and the cable) and is not *locked* .
i put a ssd in mine and it performs well .Kent T likes this. -
Rick, forget the CF-C1 and get a CF-C2, better built and fast as lightning with an ssd. If you get a C1 they tend to run hot and crack the palmrest on the left side. And that silly round touchpad.
-
" ... better built and fast as lightning ..."
gee , you knew my old gf too ?
but ... if you have not committed yet ... get a C2 .Kent T likes this. -
I agree with all above.
My 52 GUN from Jeff is awesome, and the 53 JJ rocks with SSD and Max ram. Linux MX-16 working well with both
