    Hi everybody,

I have a question of the Toughbook gurus here.
I work in a computer company, were we sell refurbished computers as one part of our business.
We bought a bunch of Toughbook CF-30FQL55AM machines and I just got inform from the deployment department, that all those units (approx. 50) have a password when you try to access the BIOS.
I thought that wasn't a big deal, because the CF-30 has a CMOS battery, but I was unable to clean the password, even when I got the message that the BIOS were reset to default.
Doing some research I found out that the password is stored in the EC module (Embedded controller) and can't be removed with just resetting the BIOS.

The only solution I found is to perform a BIOS/EC upgrade, but Panasonic does not offer a BIOS upgrade for the CF-30F. The only updates are for CF-30c/a/ etc...

Right now I'm stuck with all these units, because I won't send machines with a password on it.
Can anybody help me or give me some advices of what to do next? Maybe a link for that infamous CF-30F bios update?

I don't understand why Panasonic does not support a BIOS update for those models, but they do for the rest of the CF 30.

    Thank you in advance,

    KAZ

Forum rules prohibit anyone from discussing how to remove passwords. The Toughbook password setup is pretty much imposssible to bypass or remove. You can send thm to the USA Panasonic service center and they will remove it for several hundred dollars. Probably replace the motherboards.
You can sell them here in the buy sell trade forum as parts units.
If you offer them at a realistic price, I'm sure some will sell in forum here. Do they have batteries and hard drive caddies? I have the very same model that I am typing on right now. I would be interested in a parts unit myself.
