    Hello.

Is it possible to overclock this CPU in this notebook?
There is no exclamation mark in the System Manager.
But with Win 10 it is slow and haltingly (like freezes...).
    Memory is 8GB.

Did you install W10 on it or was it on it when you go it ? I would think that 8GB of memory would be fine for W10. I would reinstall W10 again just to see what happens. Microsoft still has a LOT of bugs in W10 and they seam to not got a handle on it yet. Main reason why I am staying away from it.

What is the full model number on the bottom or first page of the bios. This will give us a better idea what you have.
    CF-31??????

No, with 8GB RAM, and 5TB HDD, as previously mentioned :) .

    This is a ST5000LM000-2AN170 5000,9 GB from a Seagate "Backup+" external drive. ~120MB/s/90MB/s
Crystaldiskinfo "Health Status" is blue and "good". 4744h.
Actually stable 122°F/50°C (copying files from partition to partition).

    Where?
Forget it. Test with another HDD or, better, SSD. I still think the dog is buried there.

The original HDD is not faster, and I think, not eqivalent.
I can reinstall the original HDD. Logical: If it was the hard drive, it must work with the original hard drive.
An SSD with several TB? Extremely expensive.
I would like to install two memory (system SSD and HDD), but I need a kind of "intelligent splitter".
Turn a SATA into two SATA.

The computer does not delay or freeze when accessing the HDD.

I would install win7 on that same HDD and compare speed to win10 install.
Make sure to use correct Panasonic drivers.
If win7 is faster then the OS is the problem.
If win7 is not faster then HDD or other hardware is the problem.

Is win10 downloading / installing updates in the background? Probably and probably A LOT of them.
That will slow things down to a stop.
Try win10 fresh install without being connected to the internet. Retest speed without internet.

    4TB SSD ~$570.

    This is Win 10 fresh.
Yes, I could do this (Win7). I'm sure it's not the fault. I will see.
No, no updates in the background downloading.

I've thought about such a caddy before.
Can I order the (not expensive) to Europe?
Fits exactly this Caddy? Fits in such a Caddy a hard disk with over-height (~ 12mm)?
I think these devices do not have a standard tray for disc drives.
I've been looking for a DVD drive before. I have to take a drive from Panasonic specifically for this device.
I have enough hard drive cage space for two hard drives.
A 1x SATA to 2x SATA adapter would be perfect.
The interface speed would be sufficient for both at the same time.
Then I do not have to give up the place in Media Bay.
These (1xSATA-to-2x-SATA) are very useful, even important things, that do not seem to exist.
Also an adapter from SD-Port to USB-Slot would be very important. To use a hard disk instead of an SD card (in a camera).

Those 2nd drive adapters worked fine for me.
Just disassemble DVD and replace with this adapter.
I used them in many CF52's, and a couple CF31's

1x SATA to 2x SATA adapter thats fits in caddy = Unicorn.

With a 12mm harddisk? In the description is only "9.5mm".
If I have a DVD drive, I have to do without the DVD drive.

Also for example this (for 27,6% of the price)?:
    www.ebay.com/itm/253670344958
    Looks identical.

Google is not my friend. Google caused me $340 damage years ago. Did a DDOS attack on my webspace. No joke. Has called again and again a small file.

OK, Ebay is my friend, perhaps these:
    www.ebay.com/itm/283240031100
If the caddies are all the same thickness (default), why are there two different versions?
It would also suffice a version. A thick for 12.7mm, which also takes 9mm.

Why should I own/buy two DVD drives?

I would recommend to stop "tuning" discussion before you fix your initial problem.
Re HDD. It's made for storage, not performance, 5400rpm, high latency. May have additional forced power management limitations.
    Look
    upload_2019-3-18_12-44-58.png

Maybe it's going to sleep too frequently and you have freezes.

    More info is required.

    Then WHEN does it freeze?
What EXACTLY are you doing when the problem happens?
What are you using the CF 31 for?
When did the freezing problem start?

If it ran fine with win7 on old HDD then the problem IS the 5 TB HDD or the win10 OS.
    I think it is BOTH.
Panasonic never offered win10 drivers for a mk1. They did that for a reason.

There are a LOT of posts on this board covering the subjects mentioned. (2nd HDD)
Take some time and use the search.

If you are afraid to use Google, Use another search engine. "The truth is out there"

Off to find a tree to bang my head on......
