    Buy or not buy?

    My Toughbook History.

I still own a CF-S10 which I no longer use. This machine features a cooling fan which blows out extremely hot air right onto where your left hand rests beside the computer. The machine was purchased from Japan and it cost almost A$6,000. Correspondence with Toughbook Japan led to nothing.

Gave Panasonic another chance and bought a CF-C2. Thought that: "no fan, no hot air" and I was right. However, the display had to be replaced a total of 3 times, due to always on white pixels. The last screen had more than 2 dozen of these spots. Again, corresponded with Toughbook Japan, who told me that this would be due to excessive vibrations, which the unit might have been exposed to. The service here in Australia was disappointing as well. As a business user, I had treated this computer respectfully. The only vibrations to which this PC was exposed to were takeoff and landing rolls during air travel. Finally send the computer back to the place of purchase for a refund.

Now wondering if anyone has experience and feedback on the new CF-C54. The top model features a touch screen from a different manufacturer, who might have higher standards and more advanced expertise.

Not sure if this has been followed up on or not, but I have been lucky enough to secure one of the new CF-54's through our Dealership Demo program and I will say I am in love with this thing. Everything about it so far is a major step in the right direction. a Quick Rundown on my initial assessment:

    - SUPER thin & Lightweight
    - Actually *feels* more rugged than my 53. (Havent had the heart to "Bumper-Test" it yet)
    - Backlit Keyboard is amazing
    - Display is a HD dream
    - Fairly spunky even with an HDD (Installing a samsung EVO SSD this week)
    - impressive battery life even with the lite battery
    - i5 screams in this thing

Summary: When I install this EVO SSD and max it out with RAM, this will be a SOLID Five - Stars, possibly 6....
