I'm looking to buy a laptop, my first one, for college.

I really like the Panasonic Toughbooks and I'm favoring the Y4 though it's difficult to find any type of review for it (I've mostly found a lot of T's and W's). What can toughbooks withstand, how long do they last and are they worth the money?

I like the Y4 because it's very light and has a bigger screen than the T's and W's (14.1 in). I'm not looking for a desktop replacement - just need some sleek, portable, and durable. I hope to have this laptop until the end of college so I want something that will last without problems.

Any kind of reviews on this computer would be greatly appreciated.

Panasonic is just such a niche player you are going to have a hard time finding reviews for them. They are very well built notebooks. Though not quite as light something like the ThinkPad T60 will offer excellent quality and support. The Y4 uses the older Pentium M which does not have as good of performance or battery life as the Core Duo.

I suggest you explore the Y5,R5, or W5 (available through Dynamism). Panasonics are excellent notebooks, although their basic series offers just okay screens.

Also check out the Thinkpad X series - a very excellent, portable machine that is very durable.
