Is it just me ;), or is the Panasonic Toughbook really a pretty decent Babe Magnet? On several occasions I have been out and been using my Toughbook and had some lady try to chat me up about my Toughbook! They all comment on how rugged it looks and how they like the colors. I even had one that sat down while I showed her its features.

I usually just have it in front of me at a bar or a resturant while I am getting some reports done when it happens. It seems to happen a bit more if I am on the Internet, but not much.

I am not kidding here! Has anyone else had this exsperence? :D

Yup... I just tell them casually... "Yes... This is where I keep the missile launch codes!"

They either get hot and wet or flip me off and walk away...

    I disagree.

Yes, it does work with the Toughbook... But also works with Toshiba... even the Sony Vaio thingy works. It even works with old broken Motorola handy with Opera Mini browser on it.

    It's because I am a babe magnet, not the device I hold :) :) :)

I told you, it's not the device - it's me... Even the gayish Vaio works. I shine too much and they don't see the laptop at all :)

P.S. You should check google translate and see what "шиба" (Тошиба <=> Toshiba) means in Bulgarian language :) Then you will change your mind for the Toshiba devices.

Toshiba sold U.S. submarine secrets to The U.S.S.R...
In 1987, a major scandal overshadowed all of Toshiba’s products and successes. The scandal involved Toshiba Machine, a subsidiary in which Toshiba was half owner. Toshiba Machine sold submarine sound deadening stealth equipment to the Soviet Union that made it harder for U.S. and NATO ships and planes to detect Soviet submarines.

Because of the scandal, two executives at Toshiba Machine were arrested and several others resigned. The president of Toshiba, then Sugichiro Watari, publicly apologized. The U.S. Senate voted to ban the import of Toshiba products for three years, and Watari and the chairman of Toshiba resigned.

I personally have no use for a Toshiba anything....I avoid the brand as much as I possibly can.

I am not taking political decisions when buying whatever. If it's good, I use it. If it's not, I don't. I don't mind if it's made in China, US or Fiji - if it is better price/quality rate than the others, I go for it. That way I actually help my local factories - if they don't compete and don't upgrade with the others, they will soon or later die anyway... and because they are going to die many workers will lose their jobs... and the government will try to save that job places... and because of that my taxes will get higher... etc. Not a good scenario.

"Support the best" - that's the only way that the global capitalism can function normally. Every protectionism ("I will buy only made in... stuff because that way I am supporting my country") is actually a direct way to local monopolies. Which is not that bad either... if you don't lie that it's not what it is - a monopoly which has to be regulated by the government... so welcome socialism :)

The "babe magnet" discussion was more interesting :p

I didn't mean to hijack the thread or flame...Just wanted to state my thoughts on Toshiba...It's fantastic that we have choices for hardware. No so much for operating systems.

I always tell my wife, whenever she askes me why i buy and sell (trade) toughbooks... i like these machines, they are rugged and can withstand a car driving over them.

She replies, yes, okay, but your toughbooks are slower as the new systems and also "fatter"

I said, yep, I like fat things.

Then she said: okay, Richard, now I understand you, you like fat "toughbooks" and therefore, you like me and fat bottom girls ? or not....

    I did not reply.... hehe.

Toughbooks work well as a manual pick-up tool also. If the gal isn't impressed by your TB, as she turns to leave, smack her up-side the head, throw her over your shoulder and away you go. No need to dine and dance, go directly to dance! :D JK! JK! Rotflmao!!

Whenever a girl is talking about "fat asses" or "fat legs", I always tell this:

    - Listen honey, this is actually a big plus for the girls! If you have strong legs, you'll carry a strong baby. Those "model-like" girls with thin-like-a-nail legs just can't compete with the "country girls"... and guess what - if you have to be the love of my life, I'll prefer to have a baby from you! If the man next to you truly loves you, he'll like you as you are, if he just wants to "score", then yeah - you'd have a better chance if you are tiny and doll-like, because that's fashion today. So forget about the diets and the tiny figure. Open a beer and cheers!
