Hi, I have just bought a Panasonic Toughbook with model number CF-18KHH64BE and im from the UK.
I have noticed it has a SIM CARD slot on the rear right under the flap. its also got the Wireless buttons on the front panel on the right hand side with the logos of: Antenna, Mail, "Power sign" and the Power button.
Theres no software to be found for using the SIM CARD either as receiving texts or anything like that.
This is showing up in device manager: , under modems: Siemens AG WM USB Modem. Also when you press the power button on the front panel in Wifi... It disapears from the Device Manager!
Any thoughts?
Many thanks

Hi Andy, I don't know anything about this model, but all models have the sim-card slot. I don't know the siemens modem either, but is seems to be an GSM/EDGE modem (read, unbelievable slow by todays standards). It's from 2005 and there seem to be some info at this site: GSM Driver
Be careful with what you download!
Perhaps someone else has the original Panasonic driver, which would be better to use than some generic. And possibly there is a strict order to install drivers on CF-18's as well?! -

Pressing the power button (for the GSM modem on the front panel), shuts off the GSM modem, or powers it on. Therefore it disappears or appears on the device manager list.
I also have a CF-18 mark 4 with the GSM slot. I installed the software for the Siemens MC75 modem for this model. SMS works okay. But i did not yet get it working with voice. -
Not "all" of the 18's have the sim card slots. In the states the AT&T models did. There is even a board that has voice out that plugs in behind where the GPS bump out would be and has a extra port cover there. The last revision of the WWAN daughterboard was M-pci-e. All of the 18's I had with WWAN were sprint and verizon wireless models without the sim card slot.

That is the board that has voice out. -
I've only seen that board in the Oz telcom units, but, Heartland had the dust covers when we needed some. This suggests that they were present somewhere in North America.
