    Suddenly stopped working touch screen.
pointer does not move, how to check the serviceability of the sensor?
I opened the screen, check the connection.
Check the wires that are serviceable!
    Checked the 4-wire touch screen
between two wires showed resistance Om 340
    How much should it be?
    touch screen is faulty?
very rarely sensor begins to operate.
Sorry for the text, write an interpreter

Is more then likely a bad touch-panel. Could be the drivers but I'm sure you checked that already. Has been known to get messed up after a Windoz update. I have yet to have the controler board go bad. Have had 19's with only 50 hours with broken touch-panels and ones with 20,000 hours that keep working. I have new panasonic panels if you need one, PM me. There is a thread here that shows the replacement, it's rather simple.

    Here's the thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/623873-cf-18-touchpanel-lcd-replacement.html

I'm pretty sure you need 50 posts before you can pm. Every forum i know has the 50 post cap. That's usually the standard. So new posters wont spam everyone. Its annoying I know, but that's the way it is.

BTW, is that a Samara in your avatar?

I highly doubt its the controller board. I've been repairing Toughbooks
for more then 6 years and have yet to see a bad controller in a CF-19
or CF-18 for that matter. It's always a driver, panel or cable issue.

Did you reseat the flat-cable a few times in the controller to insure
good contact? I have had a 19 that had a break in the cable running
through the hinge into the laptop cause the Touch not to work. But that is
    also quit a rare occurrence.

Please post an update of your findings when the board arrives and good luck.

I tried to reinstall the cable, the contact is good.
I removed the keyboard and checked (tester) cable running through the hinge. Cable fully functional.

What is the resistance between the contacts of the touch panel ? As for my picture? My tester showed 340 ohms

    Best Regards
    Vyacheslav

Ok, I don't know what the resistance needs to be on the contacts. But if you
reseated the flat-cable and checked continuity from the main-board to the controller then it's quit obvious your panel is dead.

Dead panels are common on the mk-1
Thats why I asked the question earlier

The late model cf-18's had this same problem btw

A panel is what you need

I've had 19's with only 50 hours on them that had bad panels. I have yet to have a broken controller board. Like you say Alex the late 18's and early 19's have this problem, just like the 29's and I have done a few 30's also. I see a pattern here. The ribbon on the replacement panels I have have copper cable instead of the silver like stuff on the earlier ones.

Hi, @ Zahar1968 - sorry I cannot remember the resistances of the 4 contacts - but you should have a similar reading from the other 2 contacts.
My CF-29 had around 200 Ohms across 1 and 3, less (maybe 80 Ohms?) across 2 and 4.
Or the other way around... sorry, I'm getting old & forgetful.
    Good luck with the repair!

Thanks to everyone who helped me to establish the cause!
touch Panel bought in China on November 10. Shipping 3-4 weeks
I am concerned about the quality of the touch panel.
on that day I have not seen other sellers.

Found another one seller in Canada.
Shipping Not Available to Russian Federation
Who can tell the quality of this panel ?

The aftermarket panels are no good. I have seen them with the connectors
on the side instead of the top so that will not work.

If you want to go cheap then don't expect any wonders. The Panasonic kit is the only way to go in my opinion. The money you spent on the controller and touch panel plus the shipping from china you could have bought the right kit from me and been done with the repair.

If the touch-panel was ordered on the 10th why even ask here what to do if you have the parts on the way.
